Here is Fairhaven Station in South Bellingham

There are many ways to get to Bellingham, as well as leave. Like most cities, we do have schedueled arrivals and departures.

North Bellingham has a local international airport.
You can fly to and from Seattle, via Horizon Air, which is also affiliated and partnered with Alaska Airlines. We also have another airlines, which flies to Las Vegas non-stop as well.

We also have the local buses WTA, aka Whatcom Transportaion Authority, which run thoughout the city. The main hub is in the central business district of Bellingham.

South Bellingham, has Fairhaven Station, located in Fairhaven, which has most of the needed amenities needed to get to and from bellingham. You can take the Amtrak, from Seattle, or from Vancouver to get to Bellingham. Prices normally go for about $50-60 .

You can also take the greyhound bus here as well. Prices vary from about $40-60.

Both the train station and bus station are centrally located in the same area. It also connects with the Alaskan Cruise Ferry terminal, Which shuttles people and their vehicles to and from Alaska.

    Inner Squalicum Harbor

The Port of Bellingham has the largest Boat harbor north of the Seattle Area. The Port of Bellingham also has a boat harbor in Blaine.
This picture is of Squalicum Harbor, the Port of Bellingham's largest, on Bellingham Bay. They have short term moreage along with 3 boat ramps.
There are a few restaurants to choose from, the regional Anthony's is a favorite, but the locally owned Marina is also very good.
The US Coast Guard has a full service facility in the harbor as well.

    Getting Around Without a Car

by glabah Written Jun 30, 2013
Bellingham Transit Station, center of Bellingham

Getting around in Bellingham by public transit isn't too bad. Whatcom Transit operates a number of bus routes that serve the core of the city and certain nearby communities, with some bus routes operating even on Sundays and some service late at night. Several core bus routes operate every 15 minutes during weekdays. Route 401 connect the Amtrak Station / Alaska Ferry Terminal to downtown from around 6:30 in the morning to around 10 at night on weekdays, with somewhat lesser service on Saturdays and Sundays.

The core of the routes start and end at Bellingham Station, located pretty much in what is now the center of downtown Bellingham. This is located along the southeast side of Railroad Avenue between Magnolia and Champion. The official address is 205 Magnolia.

Many routes continue through the station as other routes, and these are indicated on the timetable so that if you don't need to get off the bus you don't have to.

Traveling within Whatcom County requires payment of a $1 fare, and $2 if the trip crosses the border to Skagit County. It is possible to purchase packages of 20 tokens for $20 at the Bellingham station, if you plan to spend a lot of time on the bus.

Seattle to Bellingham using Cheap Buses

by glabah Written Jun 30, 2013

    Local Transit

If you really need to get from Seattle to Bellingham on a budget, it is possible to do so using express routes between several cities. The connections only work several times a day, but the resulting price is fairly cheap.

Prices are cash prices in June of 2013 fares:
From downtown Seattle, you want bus route 510 to Everett: $3.50
From Everett, you want Skagit Transit bus 90X from Everett to Mount Vernon: $2
From Mount Vernon, you want Whatcom Transit bus route 80X to Bellngham: $2

Resulting Travel Time is about 3 hours and Total Cost is $7.50.

This series of connections only works about four times per day.

    Long Distance Bus

BoltBus makes four trips a day from Seattle to Bellingham, but they sell out pretty quickly. Prices can be as little as $4 and as much as $9, depending on how far ahead you purchase your ticket. The comfort is better than transit buses and you don't have to change buses. The time taken is only 2 hours as opposed to 3 hours.

    Bus System

by artgrad Updated Feb 5, 2005

Bellingham has a pretty good bus system, if you're visiting and don't have a car. The station is downtown on Railroad Ave, where you can catch a bus to just about anywhere in Whatcom County. They are wheelchair accessible and if you're a cyclist, you can latch your bike to the front. 50 cents a ride. In Fairhaven they run a very cute bus modelled after a trolley. They only get crowded on the routes that serve the University during peak hours.
