Travel to Canada
One might be tempted to drop into canada.. since it is so close to bellingham in fact vancouver bc is closer to bellingham than seattle.. getting into canada is no problem but the return journey might take you longer with the newly applied security measures. but if you are coming from vancouver to bellingham there is an airport shuttle bus which will take you from vancouver airport to bellingham airport ( 20 minutes from the village) and the public transport seems to go into a separate line and expedited rather quickly.. so take public transportation.
there is once a day train from bellingham leaving in the morning to vancouver bc
If you happen to visit Bellingham on a sunny day, you will most likely be blown away by it's beauty and cheeriness. But if this is an influential factor on you wanting to move here, beware that western washington weather tends to be cloudy and gray from fall until the middle of spring. It's not actually as rainy out here as the stereotyping suggests, at least it doesn't rain in the same way it does on the east coast. It is more likely to be generally wet, without having constant torrential downpours. Just misty or drizzly or foggy or damp. Get full-spectrum lightbulbs if you're susceptible to SAD. And enjoy the sunny days to their fullest!
If you drive poorly whilke...
If you drive poorly while drunk, don't do it in Bellingham. You will be arrested. Especially tricky are the traffic light with 2-3 second delay between Red and Green. Take a cab and at least save yourself a major pain in the ass, if not an innocent person's life.
First Class Hospital Facilities
Don't worry if you do become injured in Bellingham. St. Joseph Hospital is a 1st class facility. In fact, it's currently under remodel with 3 phases under construction currently.
