The month of April brings the tulip festival which is real nice. it is about an hour north of Seattle off of I-5. It is well worth the drive.

This place was fantastic! I had found it online when searching for a place north of Seattle to have breakfast during a road trip. When I saw Calico Cupboard's menu online I was sold. The restaurant was big, bright and welcoming and the staff was really friendly. My boyfriend ordered the Huevos Rancheros, and it was delicious! I was almost jealous of his breakfast, but that happens when your order a sweet breakfast and the other person is enjoying something savoury. I opted for the Cinnamon Roll french toast - yes, french toast made from a fresh baked cinnamon roll. It was hot and gooey and oh so good! It came with butter and maple syrup on the side, but it did not eat it. It came with two huge slices and I couldn't finish all of it.
Favorite Dish: We've only eaten here the one time, but we would for sure recommend both of the breakfast's that we ordered. They were both delicious for what they were, and my boyfriend even declared that it was some of the best Huevos Rancheros he'd ever had.

Draft Pic's Sports Bar and Grille is in downtown Mount Vernon, a block back from the Skagit River boardwalk. During the day, Draft Pic's serves up some of the better meals offered in the city...it really puts down the notion of "bar food." The establishment is divided into seperate halves, restaurant and bar sides, with both serving food throughout the day. The prices are relatively cheap (3.95 burger w/ fries). Try the Grinder sandwich--a local fav.
Whatever abiance this place develops during the day, is quickly drowned away like so many of the shots here at night. This place gets loud, and at times, a little rough. Bartender Ty is fast as hell to serve up your fav concoction (just don't order some foofoo drink) and Greg will talk your ear off-but you gotta like him!
Be like a local and order yourself a Widmer Hefe, and if you feel like getting crazy, order a shot of super-frigid jagermeister infused with goldschlager--a perfect way to warm up after a day deluged in the tulip fields.

Fondest memory: I have gone for along time to the tulip festival and every year its the best. This year was okay not all the tulips where in bloom because of mother nature but hey what can you do but there where still alot that were in bloom and they were beautiful.
