I live in Olympia, I have read some of your reveiws, the houses are BEAUTIFUL! Plus downtown olympia is the only kind of gross place, there is the countryside! There are like 5 cupcake shops, and yes the water is a little icky in the Puget Sound, but all you need to do is look past the people, we arnt hippies, or goths, emos, or freaks, we are people. Thanks.
P.S- The picture is an ezample of the beautiful lake that is Black Lake, And yes, It is in Olympia Washington!

Hazardous Water and Ground - Wash after Touching

by glabah Written Sep 26, 2011

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Like much of the waters of Puget Sound, the area around Olympia suffers from heavy industrial contamination. Thus, if you have contact with the water or soil near the water, it is recommended that you wash whatever came in contact with the water or soil. It is best to not let your children have much contact with it, and certainly they should not swim in it or eat / drink it.

Warning signs are posted near the water in many locations in Olympia reminding people of the hazards that continue to plague the water and soil in the region.

this place is notorious for housing the more dangerous residents of olympia, plus it's dirty and pretty nasty. go straight to the back and into the dirty grimy lounge. wendy will make you the toughest stiffest drink you have ever had, out of a dirty glass....but who cares? the drinks are great!

I'd say the biggest thing to watch out for are the panhandlers, most of which are kids. But ya never know if they need a meal or another fix. Just ignore them.

Don't be suprised when you see the range of people down town. The everyday folks in Olympia are punks, hippies, goths, Army soldiers, students, business men and women, and average looking people. Diversity at its best.

The cops can be pretty lame when it comes to drugs and driving drunk. Be extremely careful driving if you've been drinking. Most people know not to risk it.
The most common drug is Pot, so sometimes cops give people problems with that.
Available but less acceptable are meth, cocaine, and heroin. There's a large number of heroin addicts downtown who might ask you for change, but I've absolutely never heard of any of them bothering somebody. Just say yes or no and walk on by.

I saw this doll in the window of an OlyWa business in December. A travel agency nonetheless. It looked pretty shady.
