We came to Olympic National Park stocked up on food and drink but no matter how much you bring with you, you always need something. Olympic National Park's gateway city of Port Angeles was a fair sized town with many supermarkets. We found Safeway on Highway 101 to carry everything we were looking for as well as being a pleasant place to shop. When coming out of the Hoh Rain Forest area after a backcountry trip, the Thriftway in Forks served us well.
What to buy: We used the Safeway for some pre-cooked items when the weather got so nasty we just did not want to cook. Some fried chicken hit the spot and the store even has a small eat-in section, perfect for campers trying to escape a wet campsite.
Thriftway provided us the perfect pit-stop between treks. After completing a four day/three night backpacking trip to the Blue Glacier, we stopped in here and bought two baguettes, some salami and half gallon of Tillamook ice cream. This gave us all the energy we needed to grab a shower, drive over to the Sol Duc area of the park and start a three day/two night trip up to the Seven Lakes Basin.
What to pay: The stores seemed fairly priced considering they have little competition and a captive tourist audience.

The gallery is perched close to the road side overlooking the waters. The gallery is one among the buildings adjacent to the Indian community center. There are totem poles in front of the the complex which can be seen far away. The gallery offers a lot of native arts and crafts made by local residents and artists. There are paintings of the famous salmon fish, totem poles, masks, bears, trees and rivers. There are also a variety of dream catchers, t-shirts, hats, mugs, moccassin shoes and jackets.
What to buy: Miniature bears and other animals, refrigerator magnets, dream catchers.
