Try an oyster shooter
AmsterKetti Says:
The Outlook Inn bar & restaurant offers a great menu and the opportunity to try something a bit different...The shot is an oyster, cocktail sauce and vodka with a wedge of lime. ENJOY!

San Juan County Fair
lizilex Says:
If you are on Orcas Island at the beginning of the second half of August, do not miss the San Juan County Fair in Friday Harbor (on San Juan Island). The fair has all the exhibits you would expect in a county fair: 4-H, agricultural exhibits, farm animals, food preservation,...

Go sea kayaking or hiking along the rocky beaches with forests looming overhead. See the seals, otters, bald eagles and seabirds. And take a hike around Mountain Lake in Moran State Park. Go on a whale watch trip. See the oyster farms at low tide.
Vacation Home Rental: Read your cancellation policy
gggardener Says:
Thank you so much for three excellent replies via virtualtourist.com. I lost almost $300 due to my naiveté. I reserved three nights four months in advance and had every intention of staying in the home I found on the homeaway website. When unforeseen circumstances arose...

Sazio di Notte | Chimayo: "Show-Stopping Pasta"
moltogelato Says:
The best Italian food I've eaten this side of the Atlantic. The house-made ravioli stuffed with squash was amazing. The Redemption salad as a starter was very good. We also tried the seafood linguini. You couldn't go wrong ordering anything from the menu. Best dinner we had...
Cafe Olga: Small Out Of The way Treasure
Orgirly Says:
Café Olga located south of Moran State Park in a former a strawberry cannery, the place is small and very popular, so don’t be surprised if you have to wait. The café is housed within Orcas Islands Artworks and is downstairs from a bookstore, so there are plenty of ways to...

For more than two decades, above a renovated gas station, Christina and Bruce Orchid have been serving some of the freshest, finest food in the San Juan Islands -- some would say in the entire Pacific Northwest. The restaurant has been featured in national magazines...
The Inn at Ship Bay: Great Food, Great Location
lizilex Says:
The Inn at Ship Bay, which grew out of the 1869 Adams’ farmhouse, sits amid an heirloom plum and pear orchard, and looks south over the bay. In good weather, sit on the pretty terrace and watch the kingfishers in the madronas overhanging the bay. The craftsman style...
Olga's: New location for Olga's. . .
lizilex Says:
When Olga’s landlord decided to sell the venerable general store in the old village of Olga last spring (2005), Shelley packed up her pots, pans, and crew and moved the restaurant into “downtown” Eastsound. The new space is no larger than the old, but in good weather tables...
Rose's Cafe: New Restaurant in Old Firehouse

Bilbo's Festivo: Don't Bother
Iamrude Says:
The food was okay. The service was the worst. We made reservations for 7:30pm indoors. At 8pm we ended up with an outside table and it was cold. We were told we would be given blankets. We're still waiting for them. The waitress was busy shmoozing with some locals and...

Helpfulness

Kenmore Air has flights from Kenmore, Washington, and Lake Union in Seattle to Rosario, West Sound and Deer Harbor on Orcas Island.
Flight frequency and cost varies by season. Most flights and highest prices in the summer, especially weekends. Check website for full details.
If the weather is good, this is a spectacular way to get to the islands. These are float planes and will take off from and land on water.
Kenmore Air has free shuttle service between Seattle-Tacoma International Airport and their Lake Union terminal.
Kenmore Air also flies to the other San Juan Islands; Victoria, British Columbia; the Gulf Islands in British Columbia and various other locations in maritime British Columbia.
