DO THE PUYALLUP! --That is the phrase you will hear from anyone if you ask them what possibly they could do in Puyallup. It is the motto of the Puyallup Fair which runs every September. I heard somewhere that it is the 8th largest fair in North America.
So much to do, I don't know where to start! First there are the rides, carnival games, and live music from top artists. You'll see thousands of displays by Washington residents; everything from the largest pumpkin to someone's pencil collection. There are thousands of animals to see from goats (which you can learn to milk yourself!) to cute, cuddly bunnies. There is even a rodeo held on most nights. BUT, if you ask someone what they must do when they, er, 'Do the Puyallup,' they will most undoubtably tell you to eat a scone. Scones are a buttery pastry filled with fresh Washington raspberry jam. OHMYGOODNESS! Scones are the food of the gods.
Downtown Puyallup is fairly good sized, fairly attractive, and has a number of restaurants and shops.
I would never visit the area without a trip to Mt Rainier National Park. If you are adventurous enough to climb the 14k+ft peek use a guide and you will need to do it in the summer.
