Richland Things to Do

  • by heatherkuy Written Feb 21, 2011

We invite you to participate in the Tumbleweed Music Festival, always held on Saturday and Sunday of Labor Day weekend at Howard Amon Park, in Richland, Washington. The festival is free and open to the public both days. The Three Rivers Folklife Society has sponsored the festival each year since 1997 and is co-sponsored by the City of Richland.

We feature live acoustic music from four outdoor stages, an indoor dance stage, arts and crafts vendors and of course, festival food. We estimate about 5,000 people attended last year's festival and we expect that number to increase this year. The Tumbleweed Music Festival has gained a reputation as one of the best small music festivals in the Northwest.

The Tri-Cities area boasts 160 wineries within an hour drive as well, so stay awhile!

Probably one of the more scenic areas of Richland, Howard Amon Park is on the river shore. Richland spent over $1 million to put in a pier, and sometimes river cruise ships put in there. There is a kidde pool, riverwalk trails, a big new playground. There are also many festivals at various times of the year such as the Tumbleweed Music Festival, and the Renisance Faire. The Richland Community Center is also adjacent to the park, and has many activities.

If you go to Casa Mia, the restaurant has some good Italian food. The average entre costs about $8-$12, and you'll be fine if you are dressed casually. Casa Mia is open for lunch and dinner, and really does justice to pizza.

Favorite Dish: I like the 3 cheese and chicken pizza. It also has peppers and onions on it, but you can take those off if you want.

One of the better restaurants in Richland, 3 Margaritas (formerly known as Las Maragaritas) has good food, but the ambiance is better if you bring someone there with you. This is a place to bring someone that is visiting Richland.

Favorite Dish: My favorite dish from 3 Margaritas is the Arroz Con Pollo (literally, 'rice with chicken'). It has Chicken, Cheese, green Bell Peppers, Onions, Avacado, and tortillas. It is a lot of food, though; so it makes a better dinner than lunch.
