  • A tiny, dim English bar. They have a table quiz on Tuesdays which is fun, there a big screen TVs, so you can watch the soccer..

    Downtown Seattle: Rock Music in a Small Venue

  • I like The Showbox for its small, intimate setting. Occasionally, you will luck out and find a really great band touring here, but on other nights, there're are usually small time rock groups and it's a fun time to discover some new music from bands before they hit it big. It's dark and hot and sweaty, and mostly younger crowds in the mosh area, with a few tables in the back for low key types. I hear they recently added "The Green Room" for drinks and hanging out before the show. Supposedly, it's made the place a bit swankier, but I haven't seen it, so couldn't tell you.

    Tickets are usually fairly cheap here as well ($10-25).

    Casual/slightly clubby.

  • This lounge is just a perfect spot if you want to chill. Great food, great atmospere and great concept. Come to just eat and drink in the lounge, or stay for one of the great music acts that they host in the renovated theater. Can't say enough about this place!!

  • Upstairs club that feels like you're in somebody's basement. Basically just a long thin room. We sat in the very back, but I bet it's worth the extra $$$ to sit in the front section. We were literally in the very back, but could see hear just fine. I don't think the place seats more than 200 people.

    Service is capable and friendly and the door guy (owner?) is awesome. We had purchased advance tickets to a show -- but lost them. We showed up the night before to buy new tix and the guy put us on the guest list instead of making us pay!

    We went for a comedy show and there was no dress code. Most people were dressed pretty casually (jeans, no ties). I think they have jazz shows too -- that might be different.
