Alibi Room: Sneak down the alley

by davequ Updated Jul 26, 2008

This little place is an eccentric and slightly hidden spot on Post Alley just south of Pike Place Mkt.

Originally opened & sponsored by independent filmakers who wanted to open a joint to hangout, you could sit and read screenplays they had laying around while you sip a cocktail or enjoy some food. Later on in the evening from 10 to 2 they have music (djs & dancing) in an intimate atmosphere.

Alibi Room has changed and now is NOT open for lunch, just dinner Dinner: 4 - 11. The red beans & rice with chicken sausage are gone now also, mostly pizza and focaccia now, here's the current MENU - still closes around 2 am. Here's their hours and MAP

Dress Code: Artsy, dark, eccentric / eclectic.

Pike Place Market: The Pike Pub & Brewery

    by Ewingjr98 Updated Aug 6, 2007

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

The Pike Pub & Brewery features ales of the pretty typical Pale Ale, Golden Ale, IPA, and Scottish Ale varieties. The brewery was first opened in 1989 and attracts a steady clientèle of tourists and locals. They have a decent menu with standard pub fare and some local seafoods, but I didn't eat here. The location can't be beat if you want a good, local beer in the downtown/waterfront area.

My only complaint? The bathroom door that is secured with a combination lock. Think they tell you about that *before* you make the trek with a full bladder? Nah....

Kells: Irish Pub in the Market

    by Sunshine64 Updated May 28, 2006

Kells is an Irish Pub located in Post Alley, just above Pike Place Market. They serve several great beers on tap, including, of course, Guinness. And they have the standard macro brews in bottles.

There are two sides to the pub. The restaurant side, which includes a bar area is open all the time. The bar side is only open in the evening, I think starting at 5:00 PM. And probably with some exceptions.

They host a big St. Pat's festival, show sporting events on TV, and have live Irish music almost every night starting at approximately 9 PM.

This is a great place to go have a drink after tromping through Pike Place Market. There are a few tables outside in Post Alley, and a lot of room inside, where it's nice an dark : )

Kell's Irish Pub: Irish Pub with awesome food...

    by tracynew72 Written Dec 5, 2003

We sat at the bar on the restaurant side, intending to have only a few cocktails before finding a place for dinner our first night in town... but the food smelled wonderful so we decided this is where our dinner would be!
We had some sort of shrimp or prawn appetizer in a creamy garlic sauce that was wonderful!!!

    The Showbox: Live Music

    by Sunshine64 Written Apr 11, 2003

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

The Showbox is a great place to see live music. They present both touring bands as well as local acts. It's a nice size, elevated stage, with a big "dance" floor. There are 2 bars, one behind and one next to the dance floor, and there are even some tables and chairs if you'd prefer to sit.

    Dress Code: Anything is acceptable.
