Almost every Saturday night, the Center House of the Seattle Center becomes a hot spot for ballroom, swing and latin dancing.
With live music, a large dance floor and friendly people, this is a great place to get down in Seattle if you enjoy ballroom, swing and latin dancing. On the nights that it is hosted by the local Arthur Murray studios, there is group dance lesson that starts an hour before the open dancing- be there at 7 pm sharp if you want to join into the lesson.
Whether you are a seasoned pro or a scared beginner, this is a great place to spend a Saturday night. Everyone is very friendly and willing to 'cut a rug' with those who can, or give a helping hand with those who are just learning.
Go on the nights that Arthur Murray's Studios hosts the dancing!
Dress Code: Wear whatever you like! If you feel like Waltzing in your jeans- go for it! And if you feel like dressing to the hilt- there will be at least a dozen people right there with you.
Wear what you feel comfortable in- but remember that tennis shoes are not a good idea. They have a tendency to stick to the floor.
A three day music and art festival. Last year Maceo Parker, The Murder City Devils, George Clinton and The Parlaiment Funkadelic, The Makers, and Compay Segundo all played with hundereds more. The tickets are very cheap, and they let you bring in your own water (many festivals charge up to five bucks for a bottle of water). A great time except for it being a bit crowded. Some shows you cannot get into if there are too many people inside before you. The pic of the Space Needle is from Bumbershoot, and if you look closely, there are people rapelling from the sides. The Pic to the left is of Father Guido Sarduchi (Seventies Saturday Night Live character) marrying people at Bumbershoot on the top of a giant wedding cake with a Mariachi band on the sides.
