Pack for cold and rainy weather

Luggage and bags: I like to pack light. But it's hard to do that in Seattle since you should be packing heavier clothing.

Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: If you can, bring rainboots. If you don't care about your shoes getting wet, that's fine but pack some heavier socks to keep warm. Make sure to bring a jacket or something that has a hood so that when it rains, you don't get as wet. Try to bring a hat. It can get cold especially at night. Also wear layers if you can. I went in April and it was still freezing. The winds can be pretty brutal at times.

Luggage and bags: A small day pack is nice to carry your stuff around Seattle especially if you're staying on the outskirts and will be in town all day.

Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: Seattle is fairly spread out so it pays to wear comfortable walking shoes. You will want to dress in layers as the weather is changeable in this city surrounded by water. It's a classic town of if you don't like the weather, wait, it'll change. Rain gear is a must as it is a town that gets its fair share of the wet stuff. That said, it's generally a drizzle so an umbrella is often enough. You can always duck into a coffee house, right? ;)

Photo Equipment: A wide angle lens is best for taking photos in cities where buildings can never be far enough away. You'll want a zoom for the shot of Rainier and a little bit of luck with the weather too.

Camping/Beach/Outdoor Gear: We thankfully did NOT need our tent this time around. It was great not camping for a change. :)

Miscellaneous: Great local friends like CrizB and Taj cannot be underestimated. We're glad to have them there!

Poor travellers :-(

Miscellaneous: This couple were looking for change so I thought I would engage in the Seattle spirit and negotiate. I’ll give you change in exchange for a picture of you guys and your sign. They were right at the Pike Place Market and I thought the sign itself was novel and appropriate for VT!

Personally I wouldn’t go to these lengths but if you have lots of time on your hands I guess you could raise a lot of change eventually. The poor dogs they had seemed content to be tagging along as well.

The View at Paradise, Easter weekend

Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: Bring a hat and gloves if you plan to visit Mt. Ranier - I didn't think I'd need them. I was wrong and ended up buying them at a gift shop in the park.

Miscellaneous: The National Park Service requires chains on your tires, if the roads are the least bit snow or ice covered. I didn't have them, but didn't need them that particular day.
