Thirteen coins is one of those places that hasn't changed in it's 30 years of operation. It has the feel of a 1970's steak house with high backed chairs and dark paneled booths. But the food and service and hours are truly excellent. They are consistently ranked as one of the best restaurants in Seattle and have a full menu all day, every day of the year. I was pleased to discover that they are also a union house where employees bid for shifts so, no matter when you come, you'll be served by folks who are glad to be there at that time. Unless you're a group I'd recommend the counter seats where you get an up front view of the busy and entertaining kitchen.
Note: There are two 13 Coins restaurants: one in Seattle and one near the airport. I visited the seattle restaurant but the staff assured me the SeaTac location is just as good.

As some of you know, I have a habit of getting up at 4 or 5 am several times a week. Once in a while I feel like treating myself before I hustle off to work. I know I'll be coming back to 13 coins for the world's best omelette. They have several omelettes to choose from and each is meal for a lumberjack. At $10-$15 dollars they're pricier than at other places but you really do get what you pay for here. And if you factor in the cost of the lunch you're able to skip, it seems downright reasonable.
Have you ever arrived starving at some strange city at 2AM and can't find a restaurant open? Not in Seattle!! 13 Coins is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year!
Located just at the main exit from Seatac airport and within walking distance of most airport hotels, this great restaurant was a real treasure for me to discover.
Over 190 items on their menu and all of it good so you can pick what works for you in the middle of the night.
Rich polished wood and leather walls and high backed chairs give each booth a privacy seldom seen in restaurants these days. Or you can eat at the bar.
Deep wine cellar and full bar (closes around 2AM)
Favorite Dish:
NY Steak and eggs!
13 Coins has been a Seattle landmark since 1967. They serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner 24 hours a day, every day. They are best known for their exhibition-style cooking, large high-back leather private booths, and exceptionally large portions. They cater to anyone who appreciates gourmet cuisine and exceptional service.
Favorite Dish:
I had the New York Steak served with spaghettini in herb sauce.
13 Coins, 18000 Pacific Highway South. Phone 206 243 9500
This is a 24-hour restaurant but don't let that put you off - the food is excellent and all freshly prepared.
The main attraction is the fact that you can see the chefs in the kitchen cooking your meal. Maybe that doesn't sound too exciting but it can be fun. The menu is quite extensive and there is a good variety to choose from.
