This is a wonderful place selling tea, crumpets, scones, and more. They have a range of similar breakfast-like items, but not just at breakfast time. The main reason to go here, though, is the endless flow of good, hot tea and the wonderful crumpets with many topping choices. Crumpets, of course, are not readily found in this country and it's wonderful to find a place devoted to them, as well as to good tea in an otherwise coffee-oriented world. Service is very friendly and efficient despite the crowds. It has indoor seating as well as a few tables on the street.
Favorite Dish:
Bottomless cup of hot black tea and Crumpets with maple butter.
The crumpet shop has been here since 1976, long before the Pike Place Market was revitalised and before this area was the height of trendiness. There are only a few tables in here, but it's worth hanging around to find a space, so that you can chill out with your crumpets and obligatory pot of tea (which you can get re-filled) - or coffee if you just can't take a break from Seattle's drink of choice. They specialise in crumpets, obviously enough, but they also do a good trade in hearty lunchtime sandwiches, though even a decent crumpet is more than enough to stave off hunger for a couple of hours.
Favorite Dish:
We love the savory breakfast crumpet options, like ham and eggs, and we've shared another crumpet with jam and butter (sometimes the best things are the simplest things!) for an impromptu 'dessert'.
It's hard to categorize The Crumpet Shop. Of course they have tea and crumpets, but I love thier sandwiches.
Favorite Dish:
The roasted pork loin sandwhich, which is sometimes the special (not on the regular menu) is scrumptious.
Sandwiches are large, and you can get a 1/2 sandwich, which is just about right.
