World Class Golf

Chambers Bay Golf Course is among the best in the world, better even than Bandon Dunes, which is 300 miles south in Oregon. Chambers Bay has already been selected for the US Open, although I'm not sure which year. It will be the best $200 you ever spent. Tee times are hard to get, but go on line and you can get on with a little effort. It is a public course, owned by Pierce County, about 50 miles south of Seattle.

Fifty miles north of Seattle is a course called Eaglemont. The course was originally hacked out of mountain jungles, but it is gradually becoming tamer as the subdivisions are built up around it. Too bad--it was a blast and is still is a lot of fun. Play it before they ruin it.

If you are a member of a private club with reciprocal privileges, see if your pro can wrangle a tee time for you at Sahalee. The PGA was played there a few years ago. A manicured course through spectaular giant fir trees--breath taking. They are very proper and snobbish, however, so leave the jeans and muscle shirts at home.

Of the three public courses owned by the city, the West Seattle course is the best. Quality is pretty good and the views of the city are spectacular.

Equipment: Seattlites play all winter. Bring rain gear October-June.

Join the locals in their daily walking or jogging. Go to the most popular place to walk. It's located at Green Lake Park.

You can job all around the lake and it is very pleasant. The place is safe.

Seahawks, Super Sonics and Mariners!

Qwest Stadium and Safeco Feild

Seattle has some good options for professional sports viewing. I remember prior to my visit I went to great lengths to review the Seattle Mariners and Super Sonics schedule. My luck wasn’t good as the Mariners where in Boston playing the Red Sox and the Super Sonics breezed through the first series of the NBA finals against the Sacramento Kings and were resting. The Seattle Seahawks where in the off season and I was constantly reminded of my bad luck with constant sightings of Qwest Stadium, Safeco Field and Key Arena.

Qwest Stadium is home to the NFL Seattle Seahawks. Safeco Field is the most expensive sports stadium ever built at that time and home to the MLB Seattle Mariners. Key Arena is at Seattle Center and home to the NBA Seattle Super Sonics.

Someday my luck will change. I have yet to see either game in the NFL, MLB and NBA leagues and I know they would all be great. arasnosliw had seen a Super Sonics game prior to my arrival and mentioned it was a great time. But then again arasnosliw is crazy so you’re going to have to try it for yourself and be the judge!

Aggressive fans

I'll call it extreme sports for lack of a better phrase. U Dub fans are an aggressive bunch. Being a Miami Hurricanes fan, I've witnessed this aggression first hand. Say what you want about my team and its "fans", but I've never thrown ice, or anything else, at anyone sitting in a bar watching a game.
