You must see Riverfront Park. It was built for the World Expo 1974 (World's fair) and has an IMAX theatre. It has many rides for children and also is right next to the falls and the dam. It is a great place to go in the spring and summer when all the rides are open and in the winter, there is an ice skating rink in the center of the park. You can feed the ducks, rent bicycles, ride the Ferris Wheel, view the falls, or just relax on the grassy areas.

The park is right next to the downtown area where there are movie theatres and shopping, as well as many great resturants.

What will I miss the most if I am away from Spokane? It is rather quiet for a big city...which is a good thing and a bad thing. Ia lso miss how close the nature is to the city. There are lots of trees in the city and it is mere minutes to state parks and wilderness areas.

  • My fondest memory of spokane would be when I bought my car. We drove all over the city looking at cars, we were there all day.

  • The Inlander is a free weekly paper that comes out on Thursday. It is your best source of what is going on in Spokane on any given day. It lists all the music venues and who is playing in each of them during the weekend and coming week. You will also find listings of special events, plays, concerts, movies, etc.

Stacks of the Inlander are placed in area restaurants, coffee houses, shops and public buildings. They aren’t hard to find.

  • Visit Riverfront Park..... watching the falls with the crashing, pounding water was incredible.

Standing on the bridge over the falls, watching the sunset.

A nice walk through the park

  • We loved to take our little boy to River Front Park. There was a lot of times where we would take sandwiches and spend the whole day there. They have a huge wagon that is a slide and it was fun to walk across the bridge and see his face light up at how high we were and to see all the water below us. They also have a neat "mini" carnival that runs during the summer.

Check out the downtown area. Great restaurants, great architecture, and a large park with the Spokane River going through it. Add that to the upscale shopping and the huge AMC theater, and you have a very cool downtown area.
