The Ritchie County Historical Society has a display of historical artifacts, documents and photographs in the former General Thomas M. Harris School in Harrisville. The historic 125-year-old structure served as a grade school, high school and board of education office before becoming a museum. Restoration of the building is ongoing. It is on the National Register of Historic Places.
The School Museum houses the offices of the Ritchie County Economic Development Authority, Ritchie County Chamber of Commerce and Ritchie County Community Foundation.
