How to describe Hillbilly Hot Dog? Where does one start? Believe you me, you won't find any other place quite like this on Planet Earth. You're either gonna love it or hate it...no in between. It's that kind of place. It's actually been featured in the National Geographic Traveler magazine on the Appalachian region. If you really want to know about the place, visit their website. If you think you might want to pay them a visit, just learn that catchy little tune playing in the background of their website. If you can sing it by heart (no cheating by reading the lyrics off the menu), they will give you a free HillBilly Dog--or a scoop of ice cream, if you prefer. How's that for being allowed to sing for your supper? I sang the "Weenie Song" and got my hot dog for free. Hillbilly Hot Dog is pure tongue-in-cheek, unadulterated camp. They make use of every Hillbilly stereotype out there in decorating the place. Two of the dining rooms are actually old school buses (they refer to this as their indoor dining facility)...crazy white trash knickknacks abound throughout the joint, inside and out. This place will make you laugh out loud (unless you are touchy about hillbilly and redneck humor). Amazingly enough, a lot of the decor was contributed by customers--who just loved the campy Hillbilly theme. Judging by this place, you sure can't accuse West Virginians of not having a sense of humor! Hillbilly Hot Dog now has a second location--in Huntingon at 1501 3rd Avenue. I haven't been to that location, just the one in Lesage. The Lesage location has an outdoor stage and on Saturday nights in summer, they feature live bluegrass, country and/or gospel music. The food is great, the food is cheap, the place is fun--let's go eat!
My personal favorite is the "Naked Dog" -- a plain hot dog, just the meat and the bun.... What can I say? I'm a girl of simple tastes. ;) Hillbilly Hot Dog's hot dogs are deep fried delicious. Yep, that's right folks, they deep fry the dogs. And boy, are they good.... Joe Fazio's Restaurant is a Charleston landmark. It is famous for classic Italian cuisine in an elegant setting in the old warehouse district adjacent to downtown. Fazio's is reminiscent of a fine Manhattan supper club from the 1960's. Everything is first class. High-class decor and service without high-class prices.
The plain spaghetti in Fazio's classic meat sauce is hard to beat. All eggplant dishes are incredible. Leave a Comment Theme: OtherDirections: Bullitt Street near the new City Market at the Broad Street exit of I-64/I-77.

LOVELY SMALL TOWN by lmkluque On our way to Harper's Ferry we passed throught Shepherdstown and stopped for a delicious lunch at this cute restaurant. It had been converted from an old bank. The 1910 Beaux Arts-style "Yellow Brick Bank" in the historic district of town was quite interesting, especially the wine celler that had once been the bank's vault.
Opened for lunch and dinner the restaurant specializes in seafood, pasta, regional cuisine and they do their own baking and serve excellent wines. Leave a Comment Theme: AmericanPrice: US$11-20 » Currency ConverterComparison: about averageAddress: 201 West German, ShepherdstownPhone: (304) 876-2208

Classy little restaurant that's not outrageously expensive w/ a good atmosphere and great food. Excellent place to relax w/ friends after a day on the river, trail, or rock.
Anything Leave a Comment Theme: OtherDirections: Located in the outdoorsy hamlet of Fayetteville, WV. Stop & ask for directions, Fayetteville is so small you could probably just drive through town & find it easily enough.

French's in Marlinton, about an hour north of Lewisburg, where the Greenbriar Hotel is located. It's a greasy spoon where the food is good and cheap. Super inexpensive! I suppose some may think of it as a local dive but I love it! The booths are a little close together and, though I know you shouldn't eavesdrop, I can't help but hear the funny things people always seem to be talking about...mostly local gossip. The food is great, (at least I think it is) and the service is ALWAYS friendly.
Home made vegetable soup...mmm-mmm, with a grilled cheese and tomato. Theme: OtherAddress: Main St. Marlinton

Just about anyplace will most likely be serving buisquits and gravy! Always GOOD in that part of the country! mmm mmm good! The locals know how to prepare and serve it. So stick with 'em and ya can't go wrong. Ask your host if they got any in the deep freezer and if so!! You're in there.

Why not plan to make a full day of your trip to Wheeling and make a visit to one of the older areas of town? The old train station has been converted over to quaint little shops and restaurants. Additionally, there are fun little shops to browse lining both sides of the street. Do be sure to make a stop at Coleman's Fish Market for a bite of lunch. Be there and in line when they open though, the place gets really busy! http://www.centremarket.net/Colemans.htm
The fish sandwich are pieces of deep fried fish, several of them, piled so high there is no way to get your mouth around it. My advice? Disassemble. Leave a Comment
