Tudor's Biscuit World - Everywhere in WV!

by Ewingjr98

Tudor's Biscuit World is a West Virginia fast food chain that features... you guessed it ... biscuits. We stopped at a Tudor's in Fayetteville, WV, on US 19 just south of the New River Gorge. For lunch we had chicken fried steak and chicken fried chicken, both meals served with giant biscuits. The meal was surprisingly large and tasty, drenched in sausage gravy, and the biscuit was fantastic! We ate so much of this heavy, greasy food that we could barely drive the rest of the day... we were so tired and ready for a nap! They do have some lighter options like BLTs and deli sandwiches.Did you know that one plain Tudor's biscuit has 500 calories?

The Yellow Brick Bank Restaurant: Lunch in an Old Town!

by lmkluque

On our way to Harper's Ferry we passed through Shepherdstown and stopped for a delicious lunch at this cute restaurant. It had been converted from an old bank.It wasn't busy the day we stopped so I wasn't sure how good the food would be, but as it turned out, many people come from the D.C. area just to eat here. I was told that this was one of Nancy Reagan's favorite places to eat too. The 1910 Beaux Arts-style "Yellow Brick Bank" in the historic district of town was quite interesting, especially the wine celler that had once been the bank's vault. I don't know if I could have toured it because I didn't have the nerve to ask.We ate in the main dining room, it had a full service "minimalist" bar and some pretty interesting decor to look at, as well as nice windows to view the street activity in the center of this old town. I would have like better to eat in the more formal dining room I...

Coleman's Fish Market: definitely try the fish sandwich

by islandtaryn

Why not plan to make a full day of your trip to Wheeling and make a visit to one of the older areas of town? The old train station has been converted over to quaint little shops and restaurants. Additionally, there are fun little shops to browse lining both sides of the street. Do be sure to make a stop at Coleman's Fish Market for a bite of lunch. Be there and in line when they open though, the place gets really busy! http://www.centremarket.net/Colemans.htm The fish sandwich are pieces of deep fried fish, several of them, piled so high there is no way to get your mouth around it. My advice? Disassemble.

BOB EVANS: BECKLEY WEST VIRGINIA

by LoriPori

October 19, 2010We went to BOB EVANS for dinner as they have a pretty good Senior Menu. We both had Hot Roast Beef Sandwich ($7.29) with mashed potatoes and gravy. It was just OK. I know it's a Senior portion, but it really was skimpy. Also banana nut loaf came with it, which was delicious and moist.

Hillbilly Hot Dog: They got the WEENIES! & u can sing for ur supper

by kevanrijn

How to describe Hillbilly Hot Dog? Where does one start? Believe you me, you won't find any other place quite like this on Planet Earth. You're either gonna love it or hate it...no in between. It's that kind of place. It's actually been featured in the National Geographic Traveler magazine on the Appalachian region. If you really want to know about the place, visit their website. If you think you might want to pay them a visit, just learn that catchy little tune playing in the background of their website. If you can sing it by heart (no cheating by reading the lyrics off the menu), they will give you a free HillBilly Dog--or a scoop of ice cream, if you prefer. How's that for being allowed to sing for your supper? I sang the "Weenie Song" and got my hot dog for free.Hillbilly Hot Dog is pure tongue-in-cheek, unadulterated camp. They make use of every Hillbilly stereotype out there in...

The Cornerstone Cafe: Cornerstone Cafe-Summersville

by Phobus

This restaurant is located in a former bank building. Dark wood paneled, marble floor, crystal lighting. Really opulent, romantic. Smoking lounge keeps smoke levels down to nil. Lobster Risotto-everything you want, light, flavorful, lovely.

by DR._YES

Joe Fazio's Restaurant is a Charleston landmark. It is famous for classic Italian cuisine in an elegant setting in the old warehouse district adjacent to downtown. Fazio's is reminiscent of a fine Manhattan supper club from the 1960's. Everything is first class.High-class decor and service without high-class prices. The plain spaghetti in Fazio's classic meat sauce is hard to beat. All eggplant dishes are incredible.

French's in Marlinton, about an hour north of Lewisburg, where the Greenbriar Hotel is located. It's a greasy spoon where the food is good and cheap. Super inexpensive! I suppose some may think of it as a local dive but I love it! The booths are a little close together and, though I know you shouldn't eavesdrop, I can't help but hear the funny things people always seem to be talking about...mostly local gossip. The food is great, (at least I think it is) and the service is ALWAYS friendly. Home made vegetable soup...mmm-mmm, with a grilled cheese and tomato.

Q:  Forgot to ask before - Can you walk out on the bridge or is there an oerlook where you can look down on the river. Thanks

TexasDave profile photo

A: You don't say which bridge--- I'm guessing the New River Bridge. If that is correct, then no, there is no place to stop on the bridge, but there are scenic overlooks...
