    Valley Transit

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

The Valley Transit buses run within the Fox Cities. Buses run hourly so it is rather inconvenient if you miss your bus. There is no bus service on Sundays. All buses have bike racks on the front. You must be trained and certified (for a fee of $2.00) to use the bike racks on the buses. All in all, you would be better off driving than relying on public transportation to get around in the Fox Cities.

  • From the South: Take US Hwy....

From the South: Take US Hwy. 41 north from Milwaukee/Chicago.
From the West: Check a map. There is still no one major highway running from East to West across Wisconsin (thats not under construction). But check Hwy. 29 (which runs from Eau Claire to Green Bay). Hwy. 29 meets with Hwy. 47 one hour north of Appleton which runs right into town.
The closest Airport is ATW (Outagamie County Regional Airport) approximately two miles from downtown, but only blocks from the majority of hotels, shops, and restaurants.
A Greyhound Station is also found in Appleton.
Car is the only way to go. Appleton and the Fox Valley is also serviced by a bus line (The Valley Transit) but its coverage is limited.

  • Highway 41 and 441

    by pumpkin915 Written Apr 16, 2003

Highway 41 circles Appleton on the outer edge on the west side and north side and has 6 exits into Appleton. Highway 441 is fairly new and circles Appleton on the outer edge on the south side and east side. 441 is really like a highway that penetrates the city. There is alot being built up around the new 441, especially to the east side.
