Don't miss visiting The Merchant General Store on Main Street in Downtown Black River Falls, WI. It is in an historic general store building and is like taking a trip back in time. Lots of old candy, glass bottled pop, old time toys, antiques, ice cream and lots of neat things made locally, in Wisconsin and the USA. It is definitely worth a stop. It is the greatest store experience I have ever had. It has a great pleasant atmosphere and a feeling of being in the old days. There is a web site for the store at www.themerchantgeneralstore.com

The Jackson County Historical Society is worth a visit if you happen to be there when they are open and are really into history or the macabre. The pictures which form the basis for the book and movie, Wisconsin Death Trip are stored here. For more info on this book/movie, see the intro page for Black River Falls.
It is located at 13 South First Street and is entirely operated by volunteers so hours of operation tend to vary.
