Countryside well worth checking out
Not very progressive/ cold winters/ can be boring after a while
I like to drink there in the true dives, and if you need a tour guide call me.
I must admit that I had never before heard of this spectacular natural attraction located in western Wisconsin! After skirting the southern edge of Chicago, we made our turn to the northwest on Interstate-94 as we headed toward Madison, Wisconsin but really aiming for Eau Claire before calling it quits after another day of 10-hours driving. The...more
Ha ha! After 9 or 10 years...I still roll into this old dive!! I love seeing the same faces and drinking out of huge mason or Kerr jars. If you come for happy hour and look at the carpet, you can see all the cigarette burns for the last 20 or 30 years. I will be posting my own personal photos of this place shortly. I have to find me a scanner. If...more

Located on Business 53 (Hastings Way) in the Eastridge Center, this is an upscale coffee shop with great food and coffee roasted in house. Free WI FI access is included. Great atmosphere with comfy seating and a fireplace. It's a local coffee shop with a trendy national chain look. Milano Chicken Asiago - a Pannini with chicken, asagio cheese,...more

The ambience is great, three levels. The first level has a lot of natural light and resembles a cafe setting. The second level is a bustling bar area and the third level is an intimate dining room great for a date. The food and service was amazing. I ordered swordfish and it was awesome. My girlfriend ordered the filet mignon wrapped in bacon and...more
Water Street is well known to the college set, although it is not uncommon to see people of all ages hang there at night. It is a series of college-style bars and some restaurants along the street near the university. Once you have done it, you will either love it or hate it, but it's worth trying for one night. Prices are generally very cheap, as they cater to the students. Some places feature dancing, although most ALL places are cramped and crowded every night when school is in session.
It is a university town with a LOT of drinking. Some people can be a bit uncomfortable in that climate. If you are a female I would suggest going with a friend or a group to Water St.. Sometimes people get rowdy and dumb fights can break out.
As far as dangerous crime, I really don't know of many places where I would feel unsafe. Use common sense and have fun.
If you do drink, DO NOT DRIVE. Eau Claire is
very hardnosed on drunk drivers, as they should be.
Not as expensive as most cities in the USA as far as drinks. There is a row on both sides of the street of bars. The mistique is quite different than other college towns such as Iowa City, Madison, or even Berkely. Oh ya, that reminds me, eat early!!!!!!!!
Unique Suggestions: There is a semi beatnic type place with drinks under a dollar called the joint! You will find people here that can hold an intelligent conversation. A novelty with the rest of Water Street.
Fun Alternatives: Minneapolis! Eau Claire has a boring down town
