    Safety bus

by minkota Written Jun 25, 2003

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

The safety bus runs from Thursday night to Saturday night from campus area to downtown 3rd street. It is FREE cause It is paid for by the college students in town on the tuition bills. There are stops on and off campus, around town and downtown, which are marked with a maroon and silver Safe Ride bus sign.
The riding the "drunk bus" can be interesting. Often right after bars close it may be full and you will have to wait for another. Be prepared to see weird and unusual things, also sometimes there is a group sing along. I think the song I heard the most is "The wheels on the Bus go Round" but most people don't know much past the first chorus line;) If you want to sing another song just start singing, hopefully some other people know the words.

The website listed below has a great map and times it runs.

    The La Crosse River State...

    by Summer69 Written Aug 24, 2002

    1.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

The La Crosse River State Trail has been developed from abandoned Chicago and Northwestern Railroad between Sparta and La Crosse. Prairie remnants, farmlands, trout streams, hardwood forests and wetlands are found along the trail. Packed limestone screenings provide a smooth riding surface. The bridges have planked floors and railings in place for riders safety. A new bridge (1998) at Medary crosses an active rail line running parallel to the trail. This bridge connects the La Crosse River State Trail to the Great River State Trail.
