Quick visit/drive through: The University of Wisconsin-Stout campus landscape people do a marvelous job of keeping the trees, flowers, and green area looking attractive throughout the year.

The drive along Crescent Avenue, Hwy12, looks over Lake Menomin.

Visit our unique City Library on the shores of Lake Menomin at the North edge of the downtown area.

Both inside and outside seating overlooks a narrow section of Lake Tainter.
Jake's dock accommodates several boats and makes a dinner a little extra special.
They usually feature a live band Sunday afternoons.

Favorite Dish: I prefer their barbequed ribs with baked sweet potato, butter, and brown sugar.

Jake's claims 'Steak is King!' Prime rib is reliably excellent. Sunday morning brunch draws large crowds

Jake's is a half mile up river from our home.
It looks out on a narrow section (Red Cedar River) of Lake Tainter.
The Tiki bar draws many people during warm weather.
Owner, John Lynch - a former member of the singing group, The Memories, makes everyone feel welcome and special.

Favorite Dish: I really like their RIBS.
Jake's claims steak as the house specialty - large portions.
The Sunday Brunch draws crowds of people.

There are bars a plenty, pick what kinda night you want to have and you should find it. More chillin' or dancing?
    Young people. Being stupid.

Dress Code: You pick it, and it should be ok. As long as you don't look too much like a brady bunch throwback.

Menomonie Warnings and Dangers

Driving the city streets during UW-Stout class changes presents a local danger.

Deer-vehicle crashes occur rather frequently, especially in late summer and early fall. Personal experience shows me a 350 Honda is the wrong caliber for deer hunting.

About 10miles South on Hwy 25, the Caddie Woodlawn home serves as the center of attraction of a small attractive park.

Hoffman Hills Recreational area Northeast of town has woods, trails, wild flowers, and an observation tower to climb.

Favorite thing: Menomonie began as a lumbering town. The Mabel Tainter Memorial Theater, an 1890s era stone building, contains a delightful theater among other attractions.

The Wilson Place Museum also hails from the late 1800s. Regular tours by period costumed guides provide an understanding of that booming era when Knapp, Stout & Company was the larges pine lumbering company in the U.S.A.
