by tetonski1 The airport is only 10 miles from the town of Jackson. It has great access! The START Bus can take you to the airport, the ski hill, anywhere in town, and lots of hotels. It can even take you to this grocery store, where if you look closely, a canine decided he didn't want to wait, and would drive home;) Leave a Comment Theme: Airplane

I have booked my car via the company Holiday autos. This makes it much easier, as it is in your own language, if you have problem you can call their office. First I was searching the internet to rent a car, but there are so many different companies, like Alamo, Hertz, Avis, Budget, ... And they all heave different ways in giving their prices (with or without a number of assurances), that makes it really hard to compare; also there are the hidden extras. And then after a long tiring flight you stand there for the rent a car desk, and then they propose all kind of extras and assurances, and then it is sometimes very confusing to know what you really need. So the advantage of booking via Holiday autos was that everything was included, so no more extras, of course at the desk they always try to sell one or more extra insurances, but a simple no does it After the booking you receive a voucher, and upon arrival you present this voucher at the rent a car desk, a few signatures, and you can explore the American Highways. The rent a car firm was Alamo. And for the 21 days I paid 681 euro, which is 32.4 euro a day. My car was a red PT Cruiser – Cryssler. Leave a Comment Website: www.holidayautos.be Leave a Comment

public transport in Jackson by filipdebont In order to do something about the pollution by the dirty exhaust from the many cars, in Jackson they have replaced the traditional busses (which use the very polluting Diesel) by the traditional stagecoaches. This is a much cleaner solution, and the so called litter produced by the horses, can be re-used in order to fertilise the plants and the flowers in the city square park. As you can see on the picture, this is a 2pk vehicle, for longer distances there is also a 4pk version. And if you believe this story, then I am very sorry, as of course it is a joke, these stagecoaches make historical sightseeing tours in the city . . . Leave a Comment Theme: Other

by Yubert Dog sleds are one way to get around Jackson Hole. Here I am wearing a fur cap I got years ago in China. Makes me look like an Eskimo! Leave a Comment Theme: Other

Fly. American or United (Delta is pulling out). American has a direct flight from Chicago once a week in the summer and every day in the winter. Otherwise it generally connects through Dallas (ugh.). United obviously connects through Denver. If you're skiing you may not need a car b/c there is a decent bus system that can take you to the mountains. If you're hiking rent a car. You definitely do not need a car in Jackson, unless you plan on taking some road trips into the national parks. There is a very comprehensive local bus system and everything is walking distance within Jackson itself. Keep in mind that the ski resort (Teton Village) is a separate town 15 minutes away. I could not figure out how to get around the bummer of a cost for the trip to and from the airport. It seems that taxi and shuttle van both ended up costing around $45 round trip for two people. There is really no other alternative as the public bus system does not seem to go the airport. You do not need reservations for either the shuttle can or taxi, they will be waiting to steal your money once you get off the plane. Leave a Comment

Taxi Tim is a good cab co. to call if you just want a cab ride. But Norm and Tiki Taxi is an adventure, full of scary luau print, and a cheesy volcano, the Tiki Taxi is just AWESOME. Otherwise, walking and riding a bike will pretty much get you anywhere in Jackson you need to go. There are Bike rentals throughout town. Theme: Other
