This bar is very famous and I am not really sure why. The bar stools are made of used saddles and there is a breathylzer in the basement. Besides that, it is an overpriced bar with rude staff who are sick of catering to ignorant tourists who come in in droves to check out the wild west motif.
Unique Suggestions: If you must do it, go in, get your drink, and get out. Saddle bar stools are actually not as comfortable as they sound.
Fun Alternatives: Check out the Rancher, which hosts "Town Meeting" on Tuesday nights. All the locals come out for the cheap beer specials, there is a jukebox, pool to be played, and friends to be made.

Safari to see wild life
Unique Suggestions: You can save yourself some money by doing this yourself. The Wilson-Mosse Road is a great place to see Moose,Elk and Deer. Bison and Pronhorn Antleope can be see readily by Mormon Row. so save some sleep and do it yourself!

Well, that is a bit a too touristy place, but having a beer and observing tourists is also a nice activity for a short time. . .
You can’t miss it on the west side of Central Square with the neon cowboy on its roof; wooden sidewalk, varnished pine tree pillars at the entrance, but no saloon-type doors as I would have expected. . . A very big room inside, very “classical” with a bar and not real cow boys sitting on the bar stools, and many tables with people sipping a beer or other beverages, eating sandwiches and other sorts of food, not far from junk food.
I was expecting to find a smoky atmosphere (No, I did not really expect, from outside, it already looked as a tourist trap), with poker tables, horse odour, sawdust on the floor, nothing of all that; very clean, polite, well dressed people, rich atmosphere,. . . Ah, there are billiard pools. . . possibly the only “wild” contribution to this sad atmosphere.
The beer was good and not more expensive than in other places.
It is in the tourist trap section, because I was disappointed, but at least it is worth a beer.
Unique Suggestions: If you get there, have a microbrewery beer!
Fun Alternatives: There are other bars around, but I did not check.

The downtown restaurants and shops are fairly expensive. Parking is also not easy.
Unique Suggestions: Walk around the Pioneer Park - featuring the antlers. Gun Barrel Steak house, China Moon restaurant, other restaurants further down on Broadway (western side of town) and secondary streets are good too.
Fun Alternatives: Various stores in the two Park's various locations usually have good products and prices.

Ok, this isn't your typical tourist trap but you have to be careful where you ride a snowmobile. I went flying across what I thought was a smooth field, only afterwards when it was too late I realized I was crossing a ditch. I hit the other side head-on and the snowmobile was stuck and trapped in the snow.

A familiar tourist trap (for U.S. travelers).
Not a horrible option for a rainy day or if you broke your arm snowboarding (as I did).
Unique Suggestions: Info:
Located in downtown Jackson just off the main square.
Cost: less than $10 per person.

Take a look at the seats for this bar inside the Million Dollar Cowboy Bar and Grill. Now picture your butt on one of these. I’m not saying not to sit here, when I first came here years ago, I was in my mid 20s and horse crazy, and sitting on a saddle at the bar was just plain fun. And a LOT of tourist do it. You can pretty much take it for granted that the folks on the saddles are tourists, but then this is a tourist town, so one can’t feel too silly sitting on a saddle instead of a bar stool. I’m just saying picture yourself here, then decide. Last time I was there, one rather large woman was sitting on a saddle, and she was pretty much bulging out from all sides of the saddle. I then noticed a fellow with a camera zooming in for a photo, of what looked like this poor women’s behind on the saddle. I imagine he was going to take it home so he and his friends could all get a good laugh. I was glad that the women didn’t notice, and I thought the fellows was terribly rude.
Unique Suggestions: OK go ahead and sit on the saddle if you want to, lots of folks like to take pictures of each other on one of these stools. If you don’t want to, however, there are lots of regular chairs and stools to sit on within this bar. So go to the Cowboy Bar, have a good time, and choose the seat that will give you the best time.
