Never bite off more than you can chew. Wyoming is a large state so be sure to plan your trip wisely. The big things to see in Wyoming is: Yellowstone (northwest), Cheyenne Frontier Days (in the southeastern part of the state), etc. In the Northwestern part of the state the flyfishing is outstanding. It took me a half an hour to land this monster. It was caught just outside of Jackson Hole in a blue ribbon trout stream, and fed at least 6 people. Devine!

During the summer, on the Wind River Indian Reservation, you may have the opportunity to go to a powwow. It is an amazing Native celebration were you will see and experience local Indian customs and celebrations. The regalia, dancing, and food are absolutely amazing.

  • Entrance to the park costed in 1996 $10 per vehicle and $4 per person.

The entrance permit was good for seven consecutive days in Yellowstone and Teton National Parks.

  • Yellowstone is a hiker's paradise and trails range from easy hour walks across gentle terrain to strenous multi-day hikes in remote country.

But always remember that the park is a sanctuary: natural and historical features are fully protected.

And learn about the backcountry before leaving the trailhead. Park staff and ranger are the best source.

Careless walking is not only dangerous but also destructive.

I know I'm a pain in the neck saying this but I'm one of those boring nature lovers ;-)

-When we go up into the mountains we don't say, 'We are going to the Bighorn Mountains.' We say, 'We are heading up the mountain.' Everyone knows if your already near the foot of the Bighorns that's the mountain range your going to visit.

-we walk up the 'side hill' vs. up the hill.

-we don't have 'side ditches' we have 'borrow pits.' we borrowed dirt from there for the road...

  • Of course the Cowboy State has a long tradition in rodeos. One of the most famous rodeo events in the US are the annual Cheyenne Frontier Days. 40 bucking bulls, 70 wild horses - that is more than at any other rodeo. Steer wrestling, bull riding, bronc riding, horse racing, calf roping. Each of the events is performed during each of the nine days of rodeos. Usually the event takes place in July. Beside the sports events famous country musicians perform on-stage and at night the bars of the town are packed.
