The 45th Paralell by Astrobuck This is the 45th paralell at Yellowstone National Park. I know it's kind of weird, but I have this thing about being in different geographical and climatic zones. I just like to see how the Earth, Sun, Moon, and Sky look from different parts of the world. My next venture is the Arctic Circle. Then it will be on to the South Pole. Leave a Comment

When surrounded by such beautiful scenery as you find in Wyoming, it's important that you take the time to enjoy it, so one thing I'd really recommend when planning your trip is to allow enough time to travel on some of the scenic byways in the state. You see so much more than when using the Interstate and it's easy to stop the car whenever you spot something interesting. Roads we particularly enjoyed included the Snowy Range Pass through Centennial, the Buffalo Bill Highway from Yellowstone to Cody (which is designated a scenic byway although it's actually the main road between the two) and the Big Horn Scenic Byway (route 14 over the Shell Pass). You'll find lots of helpful info on the Wyoming Official Travel website's Scenic Byways page.

Me....hehehe! by Yaqui You probably thinking.........Oh, look honey a picture of a rock. Ok, I'm a history buff, so we had to stop. You can clearly see the signatures actually carved into the rock. It was also a marking point of how far many had traveled and how much farther they had to go. It The greatest registry of the desert with as many as 50,000 carved signatures of settlers traveling along the Oregon trail. It's fenced off around some of most significant signatures. They ask to preserve and protect the site and are welcome to walk on top to see the view. It has a little vistor display and restrooms. I will tell you it is out in the middle of no where, so you can probably understand how our settlers felt traveling along in the wagons. by Pawtuxet There are wonderful ranches all around...lots of livestock and beautiful horses. The locals told us that at a certain time of year you can see droves of deer and other animals coming down from the mountain to feed. My husband is an old deer hunter so he was fascinated and wishing to go back to see that. Leave a Comment

by marko727 THE HIGHEST POINT IN WYOMING IS GANNETT PEAK. ELEVATION IS 13,804 FEET. THE PRIMARY ROUTE IS 40 MILES, ROUND TRIP.ELEVATION GAIN IS 8650 FEET. I BELIEVE YOU HAVE TO MAKE ARRANGEMENTS AT AN INDIAN RESERVATION TO CLIMB IT. HERE IS AN EXCERPT OFF THE NET FROM SOMEONE'S SUMMIT LOG: Got up at 4:30 and left camp at 6 am. We crossed the boulder field quickly, and then got up on the glacier. Here we put on our crampons and got out our axes. There was an obvious trail that we followed, and this part was not too steep. We crossed back on to the rocks of the lower Gooseneck Pinnacle Ridge and on to the Gooseneck Glacier. This is where it got steeper. The trickiest part was crossing the bergshrund, but this was not too bad. There was some more glacier and rock, and eventually we made it on to the upper Gooseneck Pinnacle Ridge. From here, we went up the rocks to the summit ridge. We did not rope up for the ridge traverse, although an un-arrested fall would have been deadly. By 10:45, I made it to the summit. Leave a Comment

by marko727 THIS IS ANOTHER SHOT OF THE HIGHPOINT OF WYOMING, WHICH I WAS CLEARLY NOT GOING TO BE ABLE TO DO. BUT WAIT! ABOUT THREE HOURS SOUTH BY CAR PUTS ONE OVER THE BORDER TO UTAH, WHERE THE HIGHPOINT IS IN THE SAME GENERAL VICINITY, AND ITS ONLY A 28.8 MILE R/T HIKE TO THE SUMMIT.....ON TO UTAH, THEN!!! by Got_Snow Devil's Tower (Bear Rock, the Lakota name) If you take a trip to Wyoming it is must that you see Devil's Tower just outside of Sundance, Wyoming. I am sure some of you will recognize it from the movie 'Close Encounters of the Third Kind.' This rock is a very spiritual place for the Lakota Indians. It is closed during various times in the summer for Native Indian ceremonies. Many people come to climb it, but not during the ceremonies. I am a rock climber as well, but have never climbed Devil's Tower due to beliefs. Some things must be kept sacred and respected. Leave a Comment

by richiecdisc Otto Brother's Brewing in Wilson, WY. Great owner/brewer and a real hands on kind of place. Stop in for a chat and free samples before you invariably buy all three of his choice ales. With names like Teton Ale, Old Faithfull, and Moose Juice Stout, you can't go wrong. Even better in their bottle-conditioned form than on tap. Leave a Comment
