Favorite thing: Visit both downtown and the Bighorn Mountains.

Sheridan is a nice western town that has a true main street with all types of local shops.

Enjoy the fresh air in the mountains. In late spring (mid-June) mountain wild flowers surround you on the mountain. Great views, clear mountain lakes, water falls, and snow capped peaks are all inviting.

visit the Sharidan Media web cam which also as interesting links on it's web site: another new live streaming web cam of downtown sheridan is now available from a local internet provider. Thanks fiberpipe...

    Beautiful Mountains

    by red_stone Written May 3, 2003

    1.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Favorite thing: If I had to take someone somewhere in Sheridan, I would have to say the Big Horn mtns, camping. There is a lot of animals to view while up in the Big Horn Mtns. Sheridan is snuggled up against the Big Horn mtns. In Sheridan itself, there are some nice restaurants. Depending on what time of year you visit will depend on what there is to do at the time. In the summer time, you can go to the rodeo, the fair, the monster truck show, and the "rodeo weekend parade."

Fondest memory: My fondest memory of Sheridan would be the town itself. The mountains, the big skies, animals everywhere, and riding up and down Main St. I liked riding around on all the roads, going to Perkins late at night, going to the 24 hour Wal-mart, and cruising Main Street.

Favorite thing: visit the Little Big Horn Battlefield Monument.
A famous episode of the Far West history, even known in France.
To see : the US Army monument (within some years : the Indian one), the exibition (Indian photographes, Army uniforms, the Indian wars), a stone at the place of each killed soldier (a special one for Custer).
To not miss : the speach by a park-ranger telling the story of the war and the battle.
Nearby, there is the Crow agency : a gift shop and a restaurant

Favorite thing: Well, this is a good one, as i am out of things to do myself. First time activities, both indoor and outdoor include: We have a theater where plays and concerts are performed. It is called the Wyo Theatre. We just recently had Garth Brooks perform a Christmas concert. Tickets are usually sold at 7 or 8 random businesses around town to draw customers and promote sales. The Theatre is located on South Main. We also have an indoor and outdoor cinema. The indoor one is called Centennial 5 Theatres. It has 5 seperate movie theatres that play 2 or 3 times a day, 5 different movies, and it is open all year. The outdoor theatre(known here as the Drive-In) is named Skyline Drive-In. It is located on the very south end of town past the interstate overpass. It holds about 50-60 cars and is only open during the summer season(for obvious resons..LOL!) Outdoor things include the mountain range we live about 15-20 miles away from. It is called the Big Horn Mountain Range. There are many things to do there from camping to boating. There are lakes and canyons abound. I spend time there whenever i can, summer or winter. In the winter, skiing and snowmobiling are favorite activities. In the summer, hiking, camping, motorcycling, and water sports are everywhere.

Fondest memory: My best memory of Sheridan, which is still going on, is the fireworks displays on the 4th of July. The shows actually take place outside of city limits because they are illegal in town. Places called the Polo Ranch which is probably 6 to 8 miles out of town. Another display takes place in Ucross, Wyoming. That is a town not big enough to be called a town, that is why they hold the show, to remind locals that they are still around!...LOL!
