Big One / Palacio: Great electronic club

by IIGUANA Written Jul 31, 2005

Big one was formerly one of Buenos Aires' many theatres. But it seems these guys did the right thing and made it into an exceptionally good club, with great DJ's and amazing lights. Big one is huge, and it's 4 stories high. It's the place to be when being in Buenos Aires, so don't miss it.
One thing: on Fridays and Sundays it's called Palacio, and it's gay. The rest of the week is mixed.

Dress Code: Just dress casual and be cool. Argentinian people do know how to dress well, so don't make a fool of yourself by wearing sandals or a hawaiian shirt!!!

El Palacio: Best gay dance club on fri & sun

by mrtourne Written Dec 22, 2003

This dance club, located in the old Palacio Alsina, has been one of the biggest dance clubs in Buenos Aires for quite some time, under different names (I remember when it was called "L'Inferno" around 1993). In any case, it currently operates under two names. As El Palacio it is the biggest gay dance venue (besides Amerika, which is a bit out of the way) on Friday nights, and also hosts a Sunday Tea Dance to cap the weekend.

On Saturdays it becomes Big One, and it's mostly straight, although the clientele can be rather mixed at both times. However, El Palacio operates those days at a different location as VIP Club Palacio at Bulnes 2772 (near Av. del Libertador)

If you are planning on going, check their web site below - you can print discount coupons to present at the door. All prices are in pesos, by the way

Dress Code: Smart Casual will get you anywhere in Buenos Aires, although I find that things have gotten more lenient these days and you can probably get away with pretty much anything.

Another tip: if there's a line at the door go to the doorman and ask to be let in, preferably in english - they usually don't like to make foreigners wait outside (believe me, we have tried this over and over and over in every Buenos Aires nightclub, it works)
