Club 69 / Niceto, Buenos Aires

The Night "Club 69" is held on Thursday nights at a Club called Nicieto. The great thing about this club is that there's a different theme night every week and about a dozen or two people are there as hosts or performers. Complete with elaborate costumes these performers dance on stage for an hour or two at around 2:30am. There's also a group of breakdancers there "battleing on the dancefloor" every week which is great.

The second floor is the VIP area and if you're creative enough (or if you're a beautiful girl) getting up there isn't too hard. Simply ask the staff where the head doorman is and when you find him confidently tell him you are a photographer for a club magazine in your homecountry and would like to take some pictures from the second level.....or something like that ...just be creative.

Dress Code: One thing I've noticed is that Buenos Aires is extremely class oriented ....much more so than in N. America. With that said, Club 69 attracts a middle to lower middle class crowd so its really not a very dressy place. Jeans and a T will do.

Club 69 (also known as Niceto Club, Niceto Vega y Humboldt) is one of the hottest spots in town. They have two stage shows in the main room, one hip hop themed, and the other inspired by traditional cabaret. The former chill out room, with its pleasantly accessible bar also features hip hop these days. It may get fairly crowded, have long lines, and, worst of all, it now closes meticulously at 6 (in exchange for that, they now open before 2, supposedly as early as midnight). It has also earned perhaps too much fame among tourists, who make up most of the crowd. Nevertheless, on a good night, it's still an excellent choice. Saturdays sometimes feature magic, which is more oriented towards hardcore electronica, with the exception of the last Saturday in each month, when they also have a "Club 69".

This is a prototypical club in Buenos Aires. It is usually pretty packed and, at times, difficult to even get on the dance floor. I was not a big of fan of this place, mainly because they only played techno music, it was a little too crowded (unless you were upsatirs in VIP), and a little too smokey. Thursday nights are usually good and, as an alternative, there is a great bar across the street (I forget the name) but that is very good on Thursdays as well and has a nice 2nd floor terrace.

Good club, good music, and perfomances on Thursday, when it's called Club 69 instead of Niceto. One of Buenos Aires good clubs!!!

Dress Code: As I said in one of my tips, don't wear sandals or shorts. Argentinian people do know how to dress well, so don't be a clown and appear with a hawaiian shirt!!!

It's one spot i still remember, totally cool dancers music is great alcohol is not expensive ...especially on a thursday night !!!
