Mundo Bizzaro, Buenos Aires

The name of this bar is very fitting. Located in Palermo Viejo, Bizzaro Bar has a unique feel to it: Burgundy red sofas, dark lighting, creative drinks, and rare music (one time I was there they were playing a CD of cover songs that included a cover of a nine-in-nails song in acoustic). There are two rooms. The first room has that tables, and the back room has the sofas, as well as a silent black and white film playing most of the time to add to mystic of the bar. This room also serves as a great date place and possible oportune spot for that first kiss!

Dress Code: Pretty lax.

Some people claim this is the city's best bar. I didn't get to visit anywhere near enough to say whether that's accurate, but it easily makes my world top 5.

As you enter you pass the bar on your left and you can grab one of the many tables lining the wall on your right - great for a group of 6-8 if you want a lively conversation or just a chance to check out the other talent.

If you instead decide to slide next door you'll enter a room that's dropped out of a David Lynch movie. Thick drapes cover the walls surrounding large black leather sofas while a glitterball flashes red slashes around the room. Very cool atmosphere and better suited to an intimate conversation or a chilled out vibe.

The DJ plays electronica, jazz or Argentinian beats - the music varies depending on the evening. Later on staff may put on hard to find imported cds such as the eels for a smooth end to the evening.

Staff bring beers or a selection of cocktails to your table, though there is also bar service.

The first time I came I was impressed, then after a few more visits it really became a smouldering favourite.

This bar, located in Palermo Viejo, has quiet a bit of energy and great specials during the week. It gets quite packed on weekends, sometimes showing local art films on the screen in the back. Drinks are expensive, at abot 9 or 12 pesos per trago, however they are strong and have a large variety.

Monday's sushi is sold at reasonable prices (and it's pretty good!)

This is atrendy place, with an old American 50;s style, nice lounge music, every kind of drinks, imported beers, eclcetic kind of people.
