Lomo Restaurante: Palermo Soho: Beauty and Bife co-exist at Lomo

This place is a guaranteed hit on three levels: ambiance, food, and service.

The ambiance is trendy, hip, and upscale. There is an outdoor roof patio upstairs too. The photos of the place from the various VT members speak thousands of words.

The Food was equally good. There is a small 3 peso cover for each person. I had the Pate a la Lomo for 8 pesos which was delicious. The Tostadas en la Gloria was also delic for 11 pesos. Appetizers will run 8-12 pesos. (In BA they call appetizers Entrees).

Entrees (in the U.S. we call the main dish an entree in BA they call it a Plato Principale) will run 29-35 pesos. The Lomo Relleno for 32 pesos was good on both of my visits.

A cup of Terraza Malbec will run about 9 pesos but my favorite was the Saint Felicien 2002 Malbec/Merlot that I had. This wine was smooth and unfortunately it's not available in the U.S.

The dessert was also good on both visits.

On a final count, LOMO had good service too. The manager Raquel Gorospe was very friendly and willing to offer suggestions about to do while in BA. We chatted with her for a few minutes after dinner as she gave us pointers on the Palermo Viejo scene.

A group of people from France meet at Lomo on Monday nights too.

Lomo Recors upstairs also offers an eclectic mix of cds for about 27 pesos each. From the Smiths to the Beatles to Jimmy Hendrix.

Favorite Dish: Pate a la Lomo
    Lomo Relleno
Bottle of Saint Felicien! From the Fincas Catena Zapata group, which unfortunately isn't widely available in the U.S.

Lomo Restaurant: Hip, trendy Palermo Viejo restaurant

Lomo is a very hip and trendy restaurant - lounge - record shop. It is located in the equally hip and trendy Palermo Viejo neighborhood. As you are dining they play music mixes and if you like them then you can buy the CD's in the record shop on the 2nd level. This by far was my favorite restaurant in Buenos Aires. Too bad I waited to eat there on my last full night in town.

As you enter they have leather chairs and semi-circular couches placed for waiting on friends and enjoying a drink. The first level has a bar and dining area, the second a record shop and on the third, another dining area. They also have a rooftop dining area, but on the night I went it was raining, so it was closed.

The service and staff are very friendly and promt. The night I went it seemed most of the patrons were foreigners.

Favorite Dish: I had langostinos(shrimps) dish for an appetizer. Lomo(filet mignon) coated in black pepper.
For wine, I had the Saint Felician malbec.
Dessert was fresh fruits with ice cream.
    And a double expresso.

    Everything I had was excellent.

Raqual, one of the friendly staff at Lomo.

Lomo Restaurante: Great meal in a hip joint

Aside from being a great looking place, Lomo has great food to match. And really interesting food at that. The menu is not big, but very interesting. It's mostly meat, but this is Argentina. But everything we had on the menu was soo good. And the place is really well designed.

Favorite Dish: The lamb chops were great, and so was the pate.

    Lomo Restaurante: palabra santa argentina

by Patriquito Updated Apr 4, 2011

This is a very well designed and comfrotable restaurant. It has a beautiful terrace on the second floor for those who prefer outside dining during the sunset. And inbetween the floors is a record store!

Favorite Dish: We only had a drink, but try the Liquado, something inbetween milk shake and juice. They have different kinds of it.
