Las Delicias - dine out or in by mtncorg Where to eat in BsAs? Where to begin? It is a journey of self-discovery, but I will let you in on a neighborhood secret. Just off Avenida Colon on Miguel Quintana, is a small local restaurant called Las Delicias. The several times I ate there – outstanding pepper steak, lomo de pimienta – there were no other tourist to be seen, just locals who were greeted by staff as family members. In a city like BsAs, there are many such restaurants to be discovered.

Pizza anyone? by sabrina_florida So, if you're up for a pizza and you want to hang out in Recoleta area, then this is a good option. Of course it's not the best in town, but worth a visit anyway. As in every restaurant in Buenos Aires, before your meal you're given a basket with some bread and a dip. In this place the dip is made with ricotta cheese and basil... wow! I loved it! They also serve pasta, but I've never tried it.
I had the Vegetarian pizza, with mushrooms, cheese, eggplant, and dried tomatoes. Really good! Leave a Comment Theme: PizzaPrice: less than US$10 » Currency ConverterComparison: about averageAddress: On Vicente López street, next to Village Recoleta.Phone: 4801-4442 or 4802-0905

ravioli by Sonador3 Another one of what seems to be an unlimited supply of good restaurants in the Palermo district. I had lunch here with Vic (victhetraveler) and it was excellent. The restaurant itself is a little sparse and airy, but the service was good. We ordered off the chalkboard menu which listed the daily specials. Vic had the baked goat cheese with a salad while I had the Goat Cheese ravioli. The raviolis were hand made, cooked perfectly and served with a sauce of reduced chicken stock and butter, garnished with dried calamata olives, sun dried tomatoes and fresh oregano. It was a terrific lunch. Leave a Comment Theme: LocalPrice: US$11-20 » Currency ConverterComparison: less expensive than averagePhone: 4771-1155Directions: Fitz Roy 1994 esquina Nicaragua

The King! by Sonador3 El Rey is a Peruvian Restaurant specializing in chicken cooked over a wood fire. I ran into this place while searching for a place to eat before the Theatre show I was attending that evening. It’s located across the street from the Abasto shopping center, and if you get lost, forget it because you definitely won’t find it on any tour guide. But it’s worth a look-see. If you are looking to get a taste of what the average working class person in Bs As eats, then come here. Though there really isn’t any décor to speak of, the service was friendly, and the chicken was cooked just right. Served quickly and with a cold Issenbeck, it was the perfect pre-theatre dinner. dolci by Sonador3 I enjoyed Ravello, and it's quite unique in that the tables in the little atrium area are set in gravel. I'm really not sure why, but it was different anyway. And although it's primarily an Italian menu, we ordered the parrilleta, which is a small BBQ grill that's brought to your table, full of a variety of beef, pork and chicken, and it continues to cook at your table. It's a fun way to eat, especially if you have a group of people. As first courses we had a large Caprese Salad (fresh mozzarella, tomatoes, basil & olive oil) and a shared Provoleta (grilled provolone cheese, seasoned with olive oil and oregano). The meal was great, though the meat can rather tough from overcooking on the little grill. For desert we had a flan and, a chocolate tort and ice cream. An all around good meal. Not great, but very good. The service was good and it was kind of fun to eat on a pile of rocks. Cafe Pueblo Indio by Sonador3 While walking from Monserrat to San Telmo, I got lucky and happened upon this cool little café right on Defensa. I was in need of a cup of coffee, and they were only too happy to oblige. What I liked about this place was all of the cool Native American artwork on display and for sale. All were handmade and rather interesting looking. Paintings, sculptures and other handicraft, along with friendly service were an oasis in the organized insanity that can be San Telmo on a Sunday afternoon. And the Cappuccino was excellent. Antique Calling Card From My Collection by VeronicaG The Petit Callao, a cafe and restaurant on the corner of Juncal/Callao was located near our hotel, Design Suites. This restaurant was really bustling and had a delightful atmosphere! The dining room had rich paneling on the walls and gleaming brass accents throughout. Large windows faced the busy street and it was evident that this noisy, gregarious place was a gathering spot for locals AND visitors. The menu had a large variety of selections which were in Spanish and English...so helpful! We ordered empanadas (three to a plate), which were tasty and inexpensive. The cost for four people was approximately $12.67, including a beverage.

relax on the low, hide covered couches by vtnyc History has it that Central was one of Palermo Viejo's first hip and trendy restaurants during it's infancy stages of gentrification. The ambiance is like a hip New York restaurant. You could literally take Central out of BA and put it in Soho Manhattan and based on ambiance alone, it would pass Soho's standards. They have alot of creative dishes here. From deer pate to sea bass in black olive sauce. I had the brie salad and a t-bone. Both were good, but not over the top deicious. Nonetheless, I would still go back and expect a predicatably good meal. Appetizers 10-12 pesos Entrees 19-23 pesos Beverages 3 pesos
The brie salad was my favorite dish as I just love cheese mixed with fresh baby greens. The La Americana Restaurant by Bwana_Brown After a very full day of walking to the downtown area in the heat, followed by an afternoon in the Recoleta district, we were not in the mood for a big restaurant meal - we meant to go to an evening Tango show anyway. Looking for something simple and close-by, we consulted our Loney Planet guide book. Lo and behold, it mentioned La Americana as a good spot for some of the local take-away food, called 'empanadas'. I remembered walking past this restaurant only two blocks down Callao from our hotel!
La Americana specializes in empanadas and pizzas. You can order to either eat in the restaurant or get something 'to go'. The procedure is to get in line for the cash counter to order your selection, pay-up and receive a slip with your order on it. Then, approach one of the main food counters where someone will take your ticket and whip your food off the shelves behind (something like in a doughnut shop). We did not know what we were doing and went directly to the food counters. Luckily, one of the older guys there took pity on us and processed our order anyway!
