by midnight_mike As I mentioned in the Gitanos restaurant review, go to Caminito more than once so you can sample the different tango shows. La Barrica has decent food, average prices and a fun atmosphere.

too sweet pork chops by Sonador3 I had high hopes for this place. I’ve seen it get great reviews on this site, so I was really looking forward to this dinner. But the meal overall was very disappointing. Perhaps it was our mistake in not ordering the beef, but I had had enough beef at that point and needed a break. So I ordered the Costillas de Cer (pork chops) and my friend ordered the Pollo a la Naranja (orange chicken). My pork chops were rather tough and the sauce was so sweet that I ended up drinking more water than wine (dang!). And for some reason, the chicken was syrupy-sweet as well. And even though we were the only clients there, (perhaps others have caught on? A trend perhaps?) the service was exceptionally weak, though very friendly. But it was like we needed a flare gun just to track down our server. Maybe she was new and a bit nervous, it possible. Pouring a bottle of wine into a glass and missing most of the glass was my first clue. Oh well, perhaps it was just an off night, but I won’t be going back, especially with Chiquilin right across the street, and so many other great options close by. outdoor seating by Sonador3 Located in outer Palermo, La Pharmacie is a nice place to sit outside and have an inexpensive lunch. Service was prompt and the meal, while not excellent, as very tasty. I had a mixed green salad (they allow you to choose 4 items) as a first course, and a cheese ravioli with a Bolognese sauce. The raviolis were not fresh (previously frozen) and the sauce was a bit too sweet, but overall, and for the price – especially for an al fresco meal in Palermo – made the meal enjoyable. With a soda and cop. the total was $15.50 pesos. Leave a Comment Theme: DinerPrice: less than US$10 » Currency ConverterComparison: less expensive than averageDirections: Republica Dominicana 3494

Sidewalk Level Plaza Dorrego Bar by Bwana_Brown Our first foray into the San Telmo district had taken place after our 47-block walk on a hot and sunny day on our first full day in Buenos Aires. Now, almost two weeks later we returned on our final day in the country before we flew out that evening. Knowing that we had not properly explored this part of the city the first time around, this time we took a taxi from our hotel and asked to be deposited in the heart of the area, at Plaza Dorrego. We had had a late night out at Cafe Tortoni, so it was almost lunch time when the taxi dropped us off, right beside the Plaza Dorrego Bar as it turned out!
We had been looking for a nice Argentinian pub/bar with some character to it. One look through the large windows of this bar told us that this place had the atmosphere we were looking for (it even provides sidewalk seating on Sundays when the sun is out). We were not wrong, as we found out when went in a picked ourselves a table! Main Bar - We Were Seated Behind the Cash Register by Bwana_Brown When you enter the Bar, the atmosphere of the place really strikes home. The seating area is not all that large, fitting in a U-shape around the large central bar. The decor is very dark wood, with both the walls and tables marked up over the years by carved graffiti, even though this part of Buenos Aires is a 'protected' historical area. Small tables are scattered about the room, with those along the walls equipped with small lamps attached to the walls. Speaking of the walls, they go a long way up - to the very high ceiling so essential for proper cooling in a hot and humid climate like like that of Buenos Aires. Old ceiling fans spin slowly and the walls are covered with mirrors, old photos of personalities, racks of old bottles and various mechanical contraptions.
It was not yet busy when we entered, so we selected a window seat and ordered a couple of beers, which came with a delicious plate of peanuts in the shell, while we looked the menu over (see next Tip). Leave a Comment Theme: Other

Our Waitress Obliges by Bwana_Brown Once inside WHAM, we found ourselves a window table so we could enjoy the sights of everyday street life in Buenos Aires. The young waitress came over and was very helpful in pointing out what was what on their menu, even though her English was quite basic.
We really enjoyed our cold Quilmes beers during the short wait before our order arrived. Sue had decided to keep it simple and went with our old stand-by from Portugal - a toasted cheese and tomato sandwich. I figured there was no better time to get into the local stuff, so I ordered a 'parilla' fried chicken breast which came with a wedge of lemon and a slice of tomato. The french fries were a bit cool but overall, we were quite happy with our food and cold beers on such short notice. The total cost including three beers was A$26.50 (US$9). Leave a Comment

time for a beer...or 6 by Sonador3 This was a pretty cool place to hang out in the afternoons -- especially if you've been walking around a lot, or it's hot outside. As with most restaurants in the area, they have outdoor seating. I liked it here because it was a brew pub that made many many different types of beer...natch! And the food that goes along with it isn't half bad. In the past I've enjoyed a great grilled chicken plate and more recently, I had some wonderful pizza. Though I prefer Banchera for pizza, Thiago and Sofia think this is the best. You be the judge. In the evenings they have a dj and often there are special events.
I recommend the tasting menu (pictured): Light Lager, Cream Ale, Weat Beer, Honey Beer, India Pale Ale, Stout, with my favorite being the wheat beer. inside Bar Sur - old grocery drawers by Trekki The Bar Sur must have been an old style grocery store. The old drawers for rice, sugar and all that are still in place. Lots of old black-and-white pictures of the old days hanging on the walls. Furniture is old, seems to come from the old days. Floor - typical black-and-white tiles. (see pictures on the website). Hope, they never restaurate it, a lot of it's charme might be gone then
Cortado (Coffee with milk). But anything in this atmosphere is good !! Leave a Comment

Buenos Aires has many great restaurants, but sometimes all you want is a snack. Thankfully, there are several Solo Empanadas throughout the city. Order as many of the meat pastries as you like and in a few minutes you will be treated to one of life's culinary delights. OK, that was an exaggeration. But compared to other fast food options, they are very good.

At night there are low lights by sabrina_florida What makes me like this place so much is the decoration, the quiet music, the fact that it may be full but never crowded, the low lights... and still, a trendy place. Plus: very good prices! I always orden a tray with different dishes to try and share with my friends, none of them contain meat.
I don't remember the name but they had this Indian tea with milk and cinnamon that I loved! For dessert: "Simplemente Maravillosas", translation: "Simply Marvellous", these are sweet balls made with some sort of milky thing.
