Lai Lai, in Chinatown by sabrina_florida There are at least 8 different restaurants to choose from in the Chinatown. Having been to no less than 5, I definitely choose Lai Lai as the best one due to the taste of their food. So far they've never let me down. I think their secret is the freshness of their products.
Last time I had Fried sweet chicken, it was one of the chef's recommendations. Absolutely GREAT! My mouth is melting already just thinking about it! Really well cooked: the chicken was crispy outside and soft inside and it comes with a ginger and spring onions sauce... wow! by andal13 During my last trip to Argentina, I had a stopover in Buenos Aires, at Aeroparque (one of the airports), and I had lunch at "La Strada", one of the several restaurants you can find there. Pasta and pizza are the specialities of this nice restaurant.
I had two different kind of pizza, a "traditional" one, and a vegetables one, which was really tasty. The mousse de dulce de leche was great as well Probé dos tipos distintos de pizza, una "tradicional" y una de verduras, que estaba muy sabrosa. La mousse de dulce de leche estaba muy buena también. Maria jose and Consuelo in "La Cocina" by wadekorzan Anyone travelling to Argentina should try an empanada at least once. It is just as important to Argentine cuisine as is beef. An empanada is like a small pie or turnover, baked or fried, and filled with different things. Some are filled with beef, some with ham and cheese, some with tuna..whatever. You can get them all over the place, in any cafe or confiteria. However, surely the best empanadas in all of Argentina are to be found at this little place called "La Cocina". They have been in business over 30 years and make no advertising at all---it's all by word of mouth. It s an extremely small place. There's only one table inside with 7 chairs, and a sort of counter with three more chairs. In summer, you can also eat outside as they have then 3 or 4 small tables outside. You can also take the empanadas to go. La Cocina is located on Pueyrredon Avenue, near the intersection of Sana Fe Avenue. If you are at this intersection, walk on Pueyrredon in the direction of Beruti street, and you will find the "La Cocina" a couple of blocks from Santa Fe on your left. The exact address is Pueyrredon 1508. As there's just one table, it's a great opportunity to meet locals, too! We met these two girls in the photo last time we ate there (I had also brought the camera to take a photo of the place). Their names are Consuelo and Maria Jose--and if you ever meet them, they'll surely tell you that this is the best place in town for empanadas as well! Gracias Consuelo y Maria Jose por permitirme sacar una foto!!! La Cocina closes for a few hours in the afternoon so they can take a siesta--so try early in the day or in the evening. coffee and a paper by Sonador3 I thought about putting this tip in the local customs area, as that's what it seems to be. But since it became my daily custom, I'll put it here. Just about every day I would take a walk up to the corner and have a cafe con leche and a medialuna (croissant) and read the paper. The Domani cafe is where I went, but there seems to be a hundred restaurants of the same vein that are almost identical to the Domani. And for the price, it's hard to wrong. There's always a TV and lots of locals talking about the recovery of Diego, the latest government scandal, or whatever. The service isn't always the best, but that's not why you go there. Get a nice cup of coffee, a croissant and kick back and start your day -- slowly. La Pergola by wadekorzan This place is simple and is not one of the city's outstanding restaurants, but if you go to San Telmo on a Sunday for the antiques market, this is a great place to sit and have a bite so you can watch over Plaza Dorrego and al of the activity on the square. it gets very crowded on Sundays but if you can get a place overlooking the square, it's great. Patagonian lamb by wadekorzan Many people associate Argentina as a "beef" country, and yes, this is indeed true! However, it is mainly in Buenos Aires and the region known as The Pampa where beef prevails, for in the south, in Patagonia, the main food is actually lamb. Everything south of the Colorado River is considered to be Argentine Patagonia, and it is here where you will find literally miles and miles of treeless plains and huge ranches that are raising sheep. You will be able to get some good Patagonian lamb at a number of places throughout Buenos Aires, and often you will see it being cooked around an open fire on a spit, like you see in the picture. If you would like to order lamb while dining in Buenos Aires, it is known as "cordero". Leave a Comment

Perro Andaluz by wadekorzan This is a neat casual place to go any day, but especially on Sunday, because there are a few tables on the balcony (like you see in the picture) where you can have a view of Plaza Dorrego. It's fun to sit there and people watch especially Sundays as their are so many people visiting the antiques market that day. OnThursday, Friday, and Saturday eveningsl, sometimes at 10:30 PM and other days at 11 PM, they almost always have some kind of show. One night is tango, another night is Jazz, another night is salsa, another night is Flamenco...so it's a good place to enjoy different types of music. Shows usually cost around 8-10 pesos ($2.50-$3.50 US) Leave a Comment Theme: LocalPrice: less than US$10 » Currency ConverterComparison: less expensive than averageAddress: Defensa 1066/72, upstairsPhone: 4362 5562Directions: Around plaza Dorrego, in San Telmo

At Restaurant Humberto by andal13 "Humberto" is one of the several restaurants situated in San Telmo, close to Plaza Dorrego. It is a cozy place, with a nice and typical decoration and a very friendly staff. There is a tango show (a couple of dancers and a large accordion player), that suits very well with the milieu. "Humberto" es uno de los numerosos restaurantes de San Telmo, situado cerca de la Plaza Dorrego. Es un lugar acogedor, con una decoración típica y cuidada, y un personal muy amable. Hay espectáculo de tango (una pareja de bailarines y un bandoneonista), que combinan muy bien con el ambiente.
