Originally designed and built to house the city's wholesale fruit and vegetable market in the late 1890's, it was renovated to be a multi-level shopping mall in 1999. It houses a 12 screen movie theater, an indoor amusement park for small children and, of course, a food court.
The stores here are more for middle-class local residents, not tourists. It is not near as upscale as Gallerias Pacifico. For a tourist this is more about seeing the building itself and the architecture than the merchandise.
