Boca Jrs. Vs. Olimpo by lkdahl Of the 3 football games I've seen in Argentina, "La Bombonera", Boca Juniors stadium is the best by far. Not matter where you sit you feel like you are right on top of the field. It was a much better atmoshpere than the River Plate stadium. The engergy of the crowd in "La Bombonera" is electrifying. The stadium is like the Fenway Park or Wrigley Field of soccer. The crowd is waving flags and singing the whole game. Just like in those classic American baseball parks, the crowd is very much into the game and everyone in the stands is a critic of every play. At the match I saw between Boca and Olimpo, Diego Maradona, the most famous Boca Juniors and Argentine soccer player made an appearence. Used the services of GoFootball.com.ar. The cost for the Boca Juniors game was $120 pesos. They pick you up at your hotel/apartment. A guide takes you into the reserved seat area of the stadium and is with you throughout the game. Afterwards they drop back off at your hotel/apartment.
DO NOT WEAR any other football clothing except Boca when you attend the game! Before entering the game, the guide expressly warned us not to cheer for any other team except the home team(Boca). In his words "it's a matter of life and death". Leave a Comment

boca/River Fans by ncoutroulis One of the all time great rivals is Boca and River (futbol). i was lucky enough to be able to see this game live, at Boca's stadium. It was one of the most intense things i've ever been to. It was scary, even, because the fans had to enter the stadium from seperate entrances, and stay separated throughout the entire game. you had to move into the stadium, by passing checkpoints, complete with cops in full riot gear. It was definitely an experience i won't soon forget. if you do go, be sure to wear neutral colors. Leave a Comment Theme: Sports Watching

Follow the old train track to La Bombonera by namidub Reserve your sundays or maybe sometimes Wed to go watch a football (futbol) match. Exact kick-off times will be available only a week before the match. If possible go for Boca or River match or even better Boca and River head to head. Safety-wise dont go on ur own especially at POPULAR terraces (cheapest tickets - very hardcore fans) unless u've a local friend to bring you. Club Atletico Boca Juniors (CABJ) http://www.bocajuniors.com.ar
Stadium - La Bombonera (La Boca) Club Atletico River Plate (CARP) http://www.riverplate.com.ar/
Stadium - El Monumental (Nunez) ticket prices varies with seat locations in the stadium Most expensive (and safest) about 50 pesos If convenience is your concern, contact agency that pick up from the hotel cheer for the team with a guide inside the stadium and send u back to where uve come from.www.gofootball.com.ar is one of them.Price approx 100 pesos depends on the match
Wear the home shirt or colours representing the club if not, pick neutral colors. Never wear the away team's strip or colors of theirs. You'll invite some trouble. Some might claim its a matter of life n death! Bring nothing of expensive looking item to the stadium. e.g fancy watches, jewellery. Club Atlético River Plate was founded in 1901 by Argentine's and it is one of the most celebrated/hated clubs in the country. A venture down to their club shop and stadium is a must see for anyone coming down to Argentina. Matchday tickets are not very expensive and most hotels can guide you on how to purchase tickets in advance. Sightlines are better at this stadium then most others in Argentina and tickets are not very expensive. It is also closer to the big parks and suburbs of Buenos Aires and is much nicer area to walk around than La Boca. The atmosphere at the matches is amazing and well worth the experience of seeing why this is the most popular sport in the world and one of the most popular clubs in South America.
If your going to a match, I suggest bringing a poncho just in the event of rain. Most seats in the stadium are uncovered (no roof like in Europe). Leave a Comment

In Buenos Aires you either support Boca Juniors or you support River Plat. Like 2 sides of the railroad track, the Juniors are from the poorer, but more colourful, Boca neighbourhood. Boca have won a record 18 international titles (equal to AC Milan) and sport the colours of gold (yellow) and blue. Their all time hero is the controversial Diego Maradona who famously cheated the English side out of the 1986 World Cup with his famous ‘Hand of God’ handball goal. Surely the most outregeous of cheating in sports to ever go unpunished. He waited unyil 2006 to appologise. Boca's supporters are known as "Bosteros" and they are proud to be called ‘la número 12 or La Doce’ - meaning the 12th player.
