Argentines love there football by lkdahl Can't go to Argentina without going to a football match. Try anyone of the main hotels. They should have info, brochure of services that provide a genuine Argentine football experience. Just pick the match 3and these services will come an pick you up from your hotel or apartment and take you to the game by bus, and provide tickets for you in the reserved seating area. A guide will be present with you during the game and a bus will be waiting just outside the stadium to take you back to your hotel or apartment. Cost for me was 100 pesos(about $35 USD).
Be sure to wear neutral colors or the home teams colors or jersey. NEVER wear the road teams jersey or cheer openly for the road team. With the guided services, you will ALWAYS be seated on the home teams side. Note that when looking at the fixtures/schedule, the home team is always listed first. This is the opposite of schedules are printed in the US. Leave a Comment

River Plate stadium by sabrina_florida I'm pretty sure you already ARE familiar with the fact that Argentine men just DIE for football. By the way, the topic of football is a constant source of fighting among couples, as women claim that men are only interested in football. Going to a match is an experience you won't regret because of the atmosphere you'll see: the singing of the fans, the boos, the scoring of goals. What teams to see? River and Boca are the most important. If you're interested in this you can contact lkdahl (VTer) for information, or just visit his page as he went to 3 different matches when he was here in February. He hired a company which picks you up at your place, takes you to the stadium and then back to your place.
Very casual. Jeans, trainers and a t-shirt. Don't wear any fancy clothes because people may stare at you, mostly the hooligans! Leave a Comment Theme: Other

by Shakermaker Going to a football match (soccer for americans) is something you have to do. Football here is a big passion and the people really add an extra something to the sport. Everyone goes to see Boca, but in my opinion you should see River. River's stadium is nicer and also its located on a better neighbourhood so after or before the game you can explore that area. Leave a Comment Theme: OtherDirections: River's stadium is located a few blocks off Avenida del Libertador and Avenida Udaondo

Not only did I play a lot of Polo in Argentina I also played Golg whih is my second love. What made Golf In Argentina so special was that I was in Buenos Aires alone and had no one to play with. But I found this Agency that arranges for visitors to play golf at the top courses in competition so you get to meet other players. Great way to meet Argentine Golfers and enjoy a round with new made friends.
Take you own clubs but you can rent Leave a Comment

On arrival in Argentina, I wanted to experience Argentine Polo. I found by chance an English Sports and Travel agency based In Buenos Aires called Playargentina which offered incredible prices not only for Polo but for other equestrian activities. I strongly recommend the Estancia rides and the Polo. Hooked now and can not wait to return to Argentina to ride more.
If can rent or borrow all from the schools Leave a Comment

River Plate vs. Banfield by lkdahl I used the services of GoFootball. They came to my apartment to pick me up and then took me to the River Plate stadium. The River Plate stadium is a large, coliseum type stadium. There is a football patch with a running track surrounding it. We we seated on the reserved seat section on the second deck. Almost the entire home side of the stadium was completely packed. The "hooligans" are standing in the sections behind the goals. They are singing and waving flags the enire game. After the game we were wisked away in vans that were park pretty much right outside the stadium. The total cost for this game was $100 peso.
If you are going to a River Plate game, either wear neutral colors or a River Plate shirt. Leave a Comment

Boca fans celebrate a goal by jetsetterforever A must see activity in Buenos Aires is attending either Boca Jr. or River Plate soccer game. I got to see the Boca Jrs. play International (Brazil) and it was INSANE. We Americans don't get too many opportunities to see quality soccer, so this is a big treat if you're traveling to BA from the states. Leave a Comment Theme: Sports Watching

Boca Jrs. Vs. Olimpo by lkdahl Of the 3 football games I've seen in Argentina, "La Bombonera", Boca Juniors stadium is the best by far. Not matter where you sit you feel like you are right on top of the field. It was a much better atmoshpere than the River Plate stadium. The engergy of the crowd in "La Bombonera" is electrifying. The stadium is like the Fenway Park or Wrigley Field of soccer. The crowd is waving flags and singing the whole game. Just like in those classic American baseball parks, the crowd is very much into the game and everyone in the stands is a critic of every play. At the match I saw between Boca and Olimpo, Diego Maradona, the most famous Boca Juniors and Argentine soccer player made an appearence. Used the services of GoFootball.com.ar. The cost for the Boca Juniors game was $120 pesos. They pick you up at your hotel/apartment. A guide takes you into the reserved seat area of the stadium and is with you throughout the game. Afterwards they drop back off at your hotel/apartment.
DO NOT WEAR any other football clothing except Boca when you attend the game! Before entering the game, the guide expressly warned us not to cheer for any other team except the home team(Boca). In his words "it's a matter of life and death". Leave a Comment
