by TexasDave Built in 1936 to conmemorate 400 years of the city's existence. It is 220 ft (67 meters) high and was built in 31 days. The plaza where it sits is frequently the site where a win by the national soccer team is celebrated. Once in a while it gets 'spruced' up for different reasons. It has been decked out to resemble an extremely large condom for AIDS Awareness Day (I missed that one!) During our visit it was clothed in the national colors of Argentina and Germany to celebrate decades of cooperation between the two countries. Leave a Comment
