    Galerias Pacifico Shopping

The main pedestrian streets in Buenos Aires are located in the center of the city. They are called Florida and Lavalle. Near the beginning of Florida shopping street near the Plaza San Martin, you will find the Galerias Pacifico shopping center. The building itself is over 100 years old and has a long history, and inside you will find beautifully restored murals which you shouldn't miss. When you walk into the shopping center and go straight ahead, you will see a little information booth on the left before the stairs. They have little brochures for free with the history of the murals and of the building itself. There are many shops in the shopping center, but prices here are a little higher than you would find in the other shopping centers of Buenos Aires. Still, by most standards, prices are cheap due to the currency exchange rate. Downstairs in the shopping center, there is a food court, and often in the afternoon they have scheduled tango dancing going on. Outside the main entrance of the shopping center, on Florida street, they are also often dancing tango, which is great to see. If you take pictures, they expect a tip. Also, watch the pickpockets right outside while watching the tango!
