It is a very nice way to kill the time and to grasp the beauty of the Delta. The Delta starts near the city of Diamante and finishes in Rio de la Plata.

The sights along the river banks are picturesque. You will see that thre live both poor and rich people.

No need to worry that you will get sick on the boat. The vessels are stable on the wother. You will not die of hunger as well. A snak is included in the price.

The tour is both in English and Spanish.

There are a lot local travel agencies that offers full day tour to Tigre and san Isidro.

Summary of the tour:

We first visit San Isidro, a traditional residential area known for its streets´ beauty and its prominent mansions including those built in the seventeenth hundreds. We also visit Tigre: the impressive entrance to the Paraná delta, fully scattered by islands that can solely be accessed by water, dense vegetation and houses on pilots that can be appreciated on an hour long motor boat ride along some of its rivers. The journey ends with a stop at the local handcrafts and fruit supply market (Mercado de Frutos).

Great fun!
We caught a coach from Buenos Aires to Tigre and once there we used the company 'Sturla' for a river boat tour.
The delta is vast ---lots of islands, inlets and channels. The houses are amazing! Many of them are on stilts. There are few paths and so boats are the way of getting around. Shopping for the locals is conducted by the river boat supermarkets. Fuel comes from special riverside gas stations: the boats pull in just like cars.
There are other buildings too. Clubs, bars, a kids white-knuckle area (it didn't look awesome!) and one house was encased in glass; it had belomged to an ex-president or someone.
The boat? Good. It held about 80 people ---although there were only about 20 of us. They served coffee etc. and there was beer available, along with coke, 7up and so on.
After the 90 minute ride we caught the coach to a suburb of Tigre. We weren't there long ---about 40 minutes and then we were taken to a station to catch a train (really clean) into B.A.

This was an interesting tour. Would I do it again? The delta was good ---and avoiding the weekend crowds was great. Yes, I would do it again.

In order to see different landscapes is better to go by train from Retiro to Mitre.The Tren de la Costa leaves from there to Tigre.To coming back you can return directly with the local train from Tigre to Retiro.
If you go on weekends,above all on sundays,all is crowdy.But the rest of the week many shops can be closed.
I took a boat with Interisleña up to Tres Bocas Island.Not bad but there is only a small foothpath around and no wild nature because of the houses.Of course there are some restaurants,but it supposed you to go to the wild countryside.I was told Martin Garcia Island is much better.It has a natural reserve.
The little town of Tigre has in Puerto de Frutos many,many shops of handycrafts.

A trip to Tigre makes a nice daytrip. I took a package, which included a short bus ride from the hotel, to then take a train (from Retiro) to Tigre. There you spend about an hour on a boat through the waterways of Tigre.
Tigre is an old town situated at the mouth of the delta.

Go to Tigre by the "Tren de la Costa". You can take the train at Maipu Station. The train trip will show you beautiful surrounding areas of BA like San Isidro & San Fernando.

When arriving at Tigre Station take a Boat Trip to the Delta del Tigre river (part of the river Plate).

The sailing tour was a memorable experience. It was an exceptional day with 2 Portenios being great hosts. We weight anchor from a marina right in front of the domestic airport. We sailed along the River Plate to the Tigre Islands. Snacks and beverages were available. having a berbecue at the restaurant was great, it is place right in he middle of the Islands. Steak Delicious!!
Apart from being an enjoyable day sailing the river it was also an opportunity to meet other people from all places around the world. Highly recommended. A must do when in Buenos Aires!

A boat trip on the waterways of the delta is a fun day out from Buenos Aires, in a place easy to reach and most popular with locals at weekends. If you decide to do the trip. Make sure the weather is nice. Setting out in the morining is best and the train to tigre from Retiro train station leaves alomst every 15 mins during the day time, getting to Tigre at the delta about 1 hour after departing. Have yourself enough funds for a decent lunch or take a picnic as well as of about 20 pesos for the travel there and back. In otherwards the train will cost you just a few pesos either way. On arrival at thetigre stop there is a tourist info office inside the small station but its very simple to walk just a few minutes across to where the main waterway begins and where the motorboats and ticket office await. The boat trip is to Tres Boca and a two-way ticket will cost 9 pesos. You can get off the boat at various jettys along the way and hail one coming back. There are various restaurants and cafes on the banks along the way and it may be an idea to take a swim-suit if you fancy a dip, but although the water is safe enough to swim in, be careful of the many boats passing through. As no surpise, youll find mozzies aplenty

El Tigre is a municipality north of Buenos Aires, centered on the Delta del Rio Plata. This area is a maze of spider webbed rivers, canals, islands and residences. Once you cross the first waterway from the mainland, there are no roads, access is either by private boat or water taxi. A perfect way to see this area if you aren’t renting a cabana here would be to arrive prior to lunch, take a taxi out to Isle de Tres Bocas, take a leisurely lunch at one of its patio restaurants, then spend an hour or so wondering the interior of the island.

If you have time,drive to Tigre and catch the boat to Isola Martin Garcia. You travel down the Rio de la Plata. I could not get over just how wide this river was. There was no way you could see from one bank to the other. There were some pretty big waves aswell which totally surprised me. The island is in the estuaries of Rio de la Plata near the mouth of the Uruguay and Parena rivers between Argentina and Uruguay. The island is a natural preserved island about 2km square. The island once was used to confine political prisoners and was also believed to have once been the home of Juan Domingo Peron. There are some historical and cultural walks that you can do around the island . Lots of wildlife come out to see you aswell. We encountered a huge Iguana ( ? ) . It was about 1.5m long and looked very menacing. Needless to say, I didn't stick around too long to see what he was capable of.
