The longest bus ride of my life
We booked a bus trip from Santiago to Buenos Aires that forced us to switch buses in Mendoza. For some reason our (TAC) bus did not arrive but we were promptly placed on a bus with Chevallier. From then on, it seemed like we stopped every 30 minutes to pick up one person or drop one person off. There was no food, and no movies. It took us 16 hours to get from Mendoza to Buenos Aires. Just awful.

Taxis - no problem
We had read a number of warnings about taxis in BA. Well I've got to say that we only used radio taxis and we had no problems. In fact we had some really interesting drivers who were keen to talk in broken English about the things that taxi drivers the world over talk about. On one journey from La Boca to Galerias Pacifico our driver took us via the most interesting places and stopped in the middle of the highway so I could take a pictutre at his insistence. We exhanged first names and shook hands at the end of our journey. One of the highlights of our stay in BA.

Buenos Aires - Airport theft
When I arrived at Buenos AIres I realized that my backpack(which was secure) was broken into and my cheap digital camera, sunglasses and other minor items were stolen. I assume this was done by the baggage handlers there.

Toilet Etiquette
When visiting Argentina, you will notice a distinct lack of public toilets. When you do find a public toilet, there's a good chance it won't have toilet paper. There may well be a toilet attendant who will dish out a few sheets (usually way too few!) in exchange for a coin, so I always recommend to people traveling to keep a roll in their bag for emergencies. It's also advisable to have coins in case you don't have your bag with you. If you don't leave a coin for the attendant you might be verbally abused and if looks could kill you would surely be dead! Above all, be sure to follow the toilet etiquette in the photo!

Internet Cafe and deletion of your mail
Yesterday, 10th sept 2003, I was at the internet place at the corner of ayacucho and santa fe, it is very near my hotel. I opened my yahoo account and saw my messages and then moved on to other websites and left after i had finished.
Now I realize that I had closed my yahoo session but not logged out. so any person coming after me to use the machine, when logs on to yahoo, my account and my email would appear! Whoever the mischievous person was, he or she deleted all my inbox and sent emails and completely cleaned out my address book. It is upsetting but one has to take it in stride while enjoying the convenience of email all over the globe.
Thank god that i did not loose all my messages since my computer at work automatically guards the incoming emails and sent emails. but loosing the address book is no fun.
so after you finish your hotmail or yahoo or other free emails, log off otherwise someone could do some mischief to you..

You really have to watch you step in Buenos Aires as people do not curb their dogs (pick up the dog's manure). This is especially true on the side streets outside of the downtown area but is not limited to any part of Buenos Aires.

Also note that many sidewalks are uneven or ruined. You might trip a lot on your sightseeing tours.

in calle florida it is a shopping area and commercial area of ba... it was nice going there but at night time, especially if you're a guy by yourself like i was, these annoying guys will come up to you and say that they have beautiful women for you and that they'll take you to a place where you can have sex.. and they are all over the place... i jsut ignored them and said no gracias until they left me alone..
