Club 69 and the Ideal partys are the best places in BA for me now. La Cigale, the Tobago and Million are good places to have a glass of wino or a beer. There are many places to go according your preferences. The music and the people.
As you like. Theme: Live MusicDirections: La Ideal is in Suipacha y Corrientes.

There is a great club called Living, that is a bunch of different living rooms set up with individual bars and dancing areas. Great to go on your own and meet people or go with a group of people and take over one of the rooms.

I won't give any name of places, since I don't remember them. I just want to give a tip to travellers in Argentina who want to enjoy the nightlife. If you come in january, late december and early february, don't waste your time in Bs As. Many of the discos are closed, and most of young people are not there. The real spot is Mar del Plata: last time I was there I thought I was in Miami beach: many discos, many hungry girls (that's for guys), and many hungry guys too ( that's for girls) :-p The town to really avoid: Bahia Blanca. Just nothing to do (in january. After, I don't know) Other good places in summer would be in the mountains: Bariloche, El Calafate are good since there are a few good bars, pubs. Just go in the town center and follow the music, you won't miss the spots. If you go during the working days, the spot is of course Bs As. A lot of big discos there. Good places to dance tango too. The best place to watch the Tango is at the San Telmo area. Or maybe along Florida/Lavelle Street where you might catch the street performers Leave a Comment Theme: Dancing

First night in Buenos Aires I headed to the Kilkenny. It was really quiet but then it was only 22:00 but by midnight the place was rocking. A really friendly place and an easy way to meet some local people. The beer is good. Great way to meet new people and the beer is pretty good.

check out the Embassy parties if you are having problems communicating in Spanish. You will find tons of English speakers at the Thursday evening embassy parties, the are informal as well. When I lived there the schedule was something like- Australian Embassy (Belgrano) first Thursday of the month, German Embassy second, Canadian third and US fourth. Buenos Aires News was a great club I thought. The Kilkenny was great place to get picked up my men of all nationalities! If bars don't interest you, I highly recommend the opera at Teatro Colon. You can get standing tickets for $5.
I wouldn't recommend wearing denim out at the bars, we wear our denims fairly loose and you stick out as American. Theme: Live Music

by la_beba At night you are likely to find couples along streets or inside locals dancing.... but of course: TANGO!!!! The essence of Tango is love, betrayal, and resolution. Perhaps no other dance can be called 'addictive,' 'obsessive' or 'totally sensual', but the Tango can! From the Enramadas (Brothels) of Buenos Aires, to the Ballrooms of the World, the Tango still remains a 'Dance of Passion'. The Countess Melanie de Portales once asked, 'Is one supposed to dance it standing up?' 'The closest thing you'll find to a vertical expression of a horizontal desire!' --Angela Rippon Once in tango mood, you may never wish to get out of it, because, like Love, Tango can become an obsession. Three major types of music fall under the general family of Argentine Tango: Tango, Milonga and Vals (each with many subsets) The 'Milonga' evolved from several sources, including the Spanish Habanera, and African candombe rhythms. The Tango 'Vals' is Argentina's interpretation of the traditional Viennese waltz rhythm, which adapts beautifully to Tango orquestas. And the Basic Tango. The Tango was originally, and still is today, a close hold dance designed to be useful under crowded dance floor conditions. The couple, in contact with each other, appear to be completely absorbed in both each other and the music. (It is considered bad form to look at your partner.)
