Excellent service, nice ambience with the devaluation of the Argentinian peso it's very cheap to have a good dinner. Make a reservation because it's the best in town.

I always said I could never be 100% vegetarian - if I lived near to this restaurant I would be happy to never eat meat again! Sol Y Luna is a very varied self-service, vegetarian buffet with a selection of hot and cold dishes (including a meat substitute dish like fillet of gluten with soy sauce) which changes daily. You take as much as you want and then pay according to the weight of the plate (200 pesos per hundred grams). Figure on paying between 3 and 4 dollars including something to drink. Alternatively there are 3 menu options comprising of selected dishes from the buffet, including a drink and dessert. Healthy and satisfying food in a relaxed, comfortable setting with friendly staff. The only problem is that it is only open for lunch (12 - 3.30pm).
The stuffed miniature pumpkins are delicious - moist with a heavy dose of garlic (which according to some should help to repel mosquitos!). This restaurant is an exquisite find for the world traveller for so many reasons. After my girflriend and I had a fantastic meal here, the owner noticed that I was speaking English. We started talking and his wife joined us, and before you know it, we had made new friends. It turns out they're fellow world travellers too. I highly recommend visiting La nieta e' la Pancha for dinner. Let Herman and Roxanna give you a wonderful and romantic dining experience.
I had the Churazco, which is a great cut of beef seasoned richly and served with fresh vegetables and sauce. The wine selection is fabulous, and Argentine wines are some of the finest in the world. The atmosphere is perfect - casual, yet very classy and original. Sunday in much of Argentina is a great time to travel and a crumby time to wander around town looking at all the closed stores, cafes and restaurants. The pedestrian malls can be lonely places. Finding food on Sunday can be exasperating. We ended up at the cafe Arcafe. The service was good. There was a lot of pizza, sandwiches and some main courses available. There was indoor and outdoor seating. Lunch for two was about 25P/$8.50USD.
Nothing special except that it was open for business on a Sunday afternoon. Maybe in the summer, more restaurants and stores would be open on Sunday. In early December, it was a pretty quiet place. Oh yeah, the pedestrian malls are there with lots of stores.

Great atmosphere and great value. Said to have the best Lomitos in town (they were yummy!) It's also very popular with the locals.
All you can eat parilla for 15 pesos you get empanadas to start followed by as much meat (a man keeps bringing you meat from the parilla until you simply can't eat anymore)and as much salad and as many chips as you want. You also get a desert and a drink included in the price. Leave a Comment Theme: LocalPrice: less than US$10 » Currency ConverterComparison: less expensive than averageAddress: Bv. A year prior to our visit to Cordoba, we were in Salta (NW Argentina) and loved our meal of 'locro'. Wanting to have it again, we went to this restaurant which we were told had this dish (Salta - -Casa de Saltena - - -get it?). Anyway. This is a large restaurant, with AC, very nice interior, good service, extensive menu and it had 'locro'. It was busy at 1:30 when we came in for lunch. It closes for 'siesta' until 8:00PM and is closed on Sunday. This place naturally offers parrillada as well as a lot more. The 'locro' was a far cry from what we had before, but was good. There are zillions of 'locro' recipes, so we really didnt expect it to be the same. Our meal of 1 bowl of fruit, 2 of locro, 2 salads, 1 beer and 1 mineral water cost 19.40P/$6.58USD. Locro is pretty cheap, so a chunk of grilled meat would jack up the bill accordingly.
It was all pretty good. The wife wasn't too thrilled with the chopped pieces of small intestine in the locro, but to me it was just protein! At this restaurant, we had something that we had never seen before. A dish of really small unpeeled figs (about the size of a thumb nail) swimming in a sugar sauce. Cant say it was really good, but it was interesting. And isn't that what travel is about?. Leave a Comment Theme: LocalAddress: Caseros 80Directions: A couple of blocks from Plaza San Martin. This place was really busy at lunchtime. Maybe the AC helped because it was really nasty out and no one was sitting at the outside tables. It's located behind the Catedral on the pedestrian mall Obispo Trejo. It had a full menu as well as lots of sandwiches and lower priced items on the 'menu of the day'. Most people were into the sandwiches and cold drinks. Despite the crowd, service was good. A sign said, "Bathroom for patrons only", but that didnt stop a wandering nun from bopping in. The sandwiches seemed costly, but pretty good. Turkey sandwich 9.5P/$3.22, thinly sliced steak sandwich 7.5P/$2.54, water 2.7P/$.92, and a large beer 4P/$1.35. Total lunch for two was 23.5P/$8.00USD. A pricey lunch but very popular with locals. I believe it was closed on Sunday as were many many restaurants/cafes around the Plaza San Martin area.
The shear variety of sandwiches was a delight after having ham and cheese all over Argentina and Uruguay. I'll never look at ham and cheese quite the same way again after the mass of it I ate down there. A bit off the topic, but the Argentinian Lomito is similar to the Uruguayan Chivito. Both are basically beef, ham, lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, fried egg, mayonaise, etc on a big bun. I had one Lomito and one Chivito so I don't claim to be an expert. However, I liked the Chivito better. Also, either one (in my opinion remember) is better than a hamburger. 'Nuff said! Just a block from the Plaza San Martin, this cafe was pretty crowded when we stopped by for lunch. There were several similar places nearby. The Mokka had AC, good service, pretty good food and was a bit cheaper than the classier restaurants around town. We had chorizo with mushrooms 9.5P/$3.22USD, salad 3P/$1USD, big salad 4.5P/$1.52, french fries 2.5P, beer 3/4L 3.5P/$1.18 and coke 2.3P. Total less tip was $8.58USD. Another lunch for two of lomito, large salad, beer and bottled water totaled $5.42USD.
It was all pretty good. Decent value for the price. It has an extensive menu from sandwiches to main courses. Leave a Comment Theme: LocalAddress: corner of Entre Rios y Buenos AiresDirections: El Centro a block off Plaza San Martin.

Around the Plaza San Martin, there are not as many good restaurants as you might think. This place was recommended by our hotel. It is located within spitting distance of the plaza. The asada was just OK, the snitzel pretty good, as was the salad. The service was typically good and the ambiance inside was fine. Cordoba on this day was very hot and humid (and it was just November) and this restaurant was nasty inside (no outside seatting). I assumed they had no AC. In fact they just didn't have it on. Two meals with beer and soda was 30.5P/$10.35UDS.
It was OK. Nothing special about it. However, watching the street traffic outside was fun. We saw a kids marching band go by as well as lots of intersting people. Across the street was the side of the Catedral. Leave a Comment Theme: LocalAddress: 27 de Abril #23Directions: Just off the Plaza San Martin in El Centro.
