The riverfront in Parana is a good place for a stroll, or even a jog if you feel the need. We saw more joggers here in one day than we've seen so far in three weeks in South America! There´s a small beach here too though it was still out of season in early October so no one was on it. There are great views of the Parana river from the Costanera and some nice restaurants and cafes too.
Museo de Belles Artes
Parana's Fine Arts Museum contains some interesting paintings by the artist Cesareo Bernaldo de Quiros. His work was the only thing on display during our visit as all the other rooms were being prepared for an upcoming exhibition. We had a very entertaining tour with a girl working there. She spoke very little English and her accent was very difficult to follow, but we were able to follow most of it. We learned much about the artist and also about Parana from her tour. The museum is on the west side of Plaza Alvear.
Plaza 1 Mayo
Parana has two main squares: Plaza 1 Mayo and Plaza Alvear. Plaza 1 Mayo is much the nicer and contains some of the city's most important buildings, such as the Cathedral and the Palacio Municipal. It´s always busy and is a great place to sit, relax and watch everyone go by. Nice place for a picnic too in fine weather.
Urquiza Park overlooks the Parana river and is a nice place to visit both for its riverside views and for some much needed green space in a busy town. A statue of General Urquiza dominates the entrance road to the park. From here, there are steps down to the port and beach area via well kept gardens.
Enjoy the river
Paraná is a city that enjoys its river very much. We can´t forget Paraná is the longest river in Argentina and the second most important river in America. On the river you can practise all kinds of water sports, like: surfing, rowing, water sking, swimming. etc..
You can also cross by ship or boat to the islands that surround the river . They´re spectacular, full of dense vegetation, and all kinds os animals, in fact. Many people have a lot of fun going in groups on safaris to the islands. They may stay for some days there hunting, fishing and having a good time. Don´t miss it.-

The beach you can see in the picture is part of the "Rowing Club", one of the most important and traditional clubs in Paraná.-
This fabulous park of 44 hectares has three diferent levels: the high promenade, the middle and the low promenades, united for ancient outside stairs. Between cascades, you can find a rich vegetation, fountains and several sculptures.-
On the weekends the park is crowded with tourist and local citizens all day long, even at night.
This picture was taken from the middle promenade to the high promenade and the building you can see is a 5 star hotel "Mayorazgo", where you can enjoy awesome views to the park and to the river.-
