OK, this is not exactly a trap but a warming. When you buy bus tickets from La Quiaca to Salta they will say its "directo", but as far as I could find, there are NO direct buses to Salta. Some of then stop in more town then others. It can take you from 6 to 8 hours.
Unique Suggestions: The roads are not bad but you better get yourself water, maybe something to eat. Also there are no stops with "usuable" bathroons.
Fun Alternatives: No alternatives here. Just relax and enjoy the view, talk to locals in the bus, watch the movies... in the end, its fun!
