    a walk around another culture

The culture and population in this High Desert border town is largely a aboriginal American. When you move around you come across the most interesting villages and towns of the northwest that are scattered in a region that was inhabited by the Incas before the Spanish colonization, you the VTer get to experience the great discovery of a millenary culture as you explore the surroundings.

town of La Quiaca the Boarder

by Ekahau Updated Aug 9, 2015

The city was important to me as a VT tourist because wonderful puno landscapes, the plastered pastel adobe buildings and to its people– the coyas- who wear a wide variety of colors on their clothes. Pozuelos Lagoon, Yavi, Seven Brothers Hill , and the whole Puna tour are some of the most important places to visit.

La Quiaca Tourist Traps

    Bus to Salta

    by Andre_C10002 Written Feb 8, 2007

OK, this is not exactly a trap but a warming. When you buy bus tickets from La Quiaca to Salta they will say its "directo", but as far as I could find, there are NO direct buses to Salta. Some of then stop in more town then others. It can take you from 6 to 8 hours.

Unique Suggestions: The roads are not bad but you better get yourself water, maybe something to eat. Also there are no stops with "usuable" bathroons.

Fun Alternatives: No alternatives here. Just relax and enjoy the view, talk to locals in the bus, watch the movies... in the end, its fun!
