Villavicencio is an old resort spa located in an ecologically preserved area about 50 km north of Mendoza. Although the resort has been unused for the past 30 years, the grounds still have the famous termal waters, several garden paths and the old chapel. The drive here is very pretty: from Mendoza it takes you up the foothills of the Andes along the old international road to Chile.
The Hotel Termas Villavicencio was frequented by Argentina's high society until its closing in 1980. The lush gardens of the Normandy-style hotel, seen on the label of Villavicencio bottles, can still be toured by foot. Perched against the foothills with oaks and poplars, trickling streams, and wildflowers surrounding it, the hotel's location represents a little paradise in the Andes. A small chapel, opened in 1941, lies just behind it. Next to the hotel, you can stop at the Hostería Villavicencio for lunch or a drink.
Lying 51 km. to the north of Mendoza city, in an enclosed area of 72,000 hectareas, you can find Villavicencio, which offers its termal waters. Located in an ecologically preserved area, the Villavicencio spa is the most widely known picture appearing on Mendoza´s postcard. It´s situated on the primitive international road to Chile. The treasure of the place is its mineral water spring, situated at an elevation of 1,750 m. Above sea level, and recommended to improve life quality for its ability to replace the liquids and the mineral used up by the body after intensive physical effort.-
