    Adventure Boat Ride

by Gypsystravels Updated Mar 25, 2009

    4.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Just like most parks in the world, there are plenty of adventurous things to do. One of the highlights of Iguazu Falls is to take a 30-45 minute Adventure Boatride along the Iguazu River towards the falls.

The trip is on a high speedboat where the "captain" circles around the river before speeding towards the falls.

It was a fun and exciting experience. The cost of the ride was $55 (US) per person.

There are many companies offering all sorts of packages, but my recommendation would be to wait until you are in the park to schedule your tour, that is what we did.

Equipment: Life jacket, change of clothing. Make sure to either leave your camera behind or put it in a plastic baggy, as everything, I mean everyting gets wet.

    Hiking... and much more hiking!

The visit to the National Park involves loooooong walkings along the trails and gangways. The trails go through the jungle, and the gangways (upper and lower circuits) lead to the waterfalls.
Each trail and circuit has its own signal, with its lenght, and difficulty degree.

Equipment: Good hiking shoes and enthusiasm.

    Buen calzado deportivo y entusiasmo.

    Getting wet

I have talked about these activities before; there are some possibilities to sail the Iguazú river: the "Great Adventure", the "Nautical Adventure" and the trip to San Martin Island. The speedboats sail the rapids and lead you to the waterfalls; another option is sailing the upper Iguazú river in rowboats.

Equipment: A plastic bag to protect the camera and waterproof mascara.

Una bolsa de nylon para proteger la cámara y máscara para pestañas a prueba de agua.

Those little stains are the boats!

If you find walking boring you can choose some of these options offered from a company inside the park but better prebook in advance anywhere in town. All the companies in the bus terminal have offers like these:

-gran aventura 120$, 8km ride in the jungle with 4x4 vehicle through the Yacaratta trail. Navigation through the lower Iguazu river with 2kms on rapids. The speedboats will break into the Devil’s Throat canyon and into the most important argentine ones
-aventura nautical 60$, Starts in front of San Martin island and breaks into Devil’s Throat canyon and under the San Martin waterfall
    -paseo ecologico 30$,
    -pasaporte verde(paseo ecologico y gran aventura 145$),
    -full day(paseo ecologico y aventura nautical 85$)

Equipment: protected bags for your cameras

The Macuco company offers exhilarating boat safaris that will not only get you soaked, but will give you quite an adrenaline rush as the daredevil driver speeds up the river right toward the Devil's Throat.
